I hope you noticed Lucy Davis as Victor's assistant, AKA Dawn from The Office.

David Foster

Wisdom of the Witch isn't on BritBox UK either, but it is on BBC iPlayer.

Keith Pratt

I've never seen this epsiode. Not sure why. I thought the "high" was going to be because Victor was working with a plant or breathing in some hallucinogens from a flower. (If anyone knows of these growing in the UK, please comment... asking for a friend).

Ryan Lynch

Thanks bud πŸ‘

Thank you, it wasn't on American Brit Box for some reason so I will have to track it down.

Interesting bud,I'll have to check that out

Awesome bud, hope you enjoyed it.

I should mention that there's a another hour long special (after Wisdom of the Witch and Starbound) before series 6 called "Endgame"

Jack Nicholas

The guy in the shed is a young Ray Winstone, hes made a career playing tough guys in British gangster movies. His breakout film as a young actor was in cult classic movie "Scum" , set in a borstel. It's a rough watch.

Heres insurance company story for you. My mum nan and 2 year old nephew was in our old car on a supermarket car park when a passerby pointed out that under the engine was on fire! So they all rushed out the car and fire brigade was called to put out the engine fire. We got a document from the fire chief stating the fire had happened. Got a garage report that it was a write off (dead car essentially) , sent it to the insurance company. The insurance company had their private "mechanic" review the car and wrote back to us saying there was no signs of a fire and the proof from the fire chief and mechanic we sent had mysteriously gotten lost. So they wouldn't pay out. We was absolutely fuming obviously, so just left em and ended up selling the car to the scrap man for about Β£250.

Love this one! To be honest I still get mixed up with the running order of these late Christmas specials.

My favourite episode from the entire series!!!! Was surprised to see it as thought this one was due next week but as most have already said, you missed the 1995 Christmas special mate....

Rob Walters

ha that's awesome

TheHigh

Dawn from The Office as the gardener.

Nell Sun

Daft little fact ... that teacher with the children's drawing class, is my old drama teacher's daughter. I'll never forget that teacher. She was incredible...Mrs Okoradudu!! The craziest, funniest, best teacher I had.

Claire Prowse

Shame about the running order mix-up, but it's not the end of the world; Wisdom of the Witch will slot in fine next week, and this is a fun special in the meantime. You can tell it was made in 1996 with all the X-Files elements, and there are nice cameos from Ray Winstone and a young Lucy Davis (who went on to play Dawn in The Office) as Mrs Blanchard. Oh, and the film Margaret mentions with the old people growing young is Cocoon. David Renwick had been toying with the idea of Victor on drugs for a few years even before this episode: in the final chapter of the OFITG novel published in 1992, Victor takes a group of elderly folks for a Christmas party at a local college, gets the wrong room, and ends up munching mince pies that some students have baked a few "exotic" ingredients into. After putting on the students' NWA and Public Enemy CDs and rapping along with them for a while, he experiences a sudden revelation: "For a full two hours thereafter the partying pensioners completely forgot where they were, what time it was, and how old they were. And strangest of all, they forgot what *colour* they were. For the life of him, Victor couldn't explain why he suddenly felt he had turned black. It was certainly not a sensation he had experienced before. But there was no denying that ethnic exhilaration that had come over him. It was as if the operating system in his brain had been switched from MS-DOS to Jive, causing every blood cell in his veins to swagger along to a hip-hop beat. And later that afternoon, when he found himself dropping the guests home one by one, there seemed nothing remotely odd about telling each wrinkled dude to give him some skin before they went inside to get down with their bad selves." So there you have it! Victor Meldrew was Rachel Dolezal before it was cool...

Ian Richards

Josh, I was wondering what your PC specs were? Do you have a video on your set-up anywhere?

Austin Stratton

Sienna Smith

Can't wait to watch this!

Andy G

Yeah you’ve accidentally skipped an episode

Keelan

You've skipped an episode! You should have watched "The Wisdom of the Witch". Make sure you've got a proper running order before watching any more!

Jim

Been waiting patiently for this , just got in from work it’s half 12 at night over here in England , always look forward to these when I get home πŸ™‚
