It's always nice to end the week with a little bit of an early upload =D

I-LAND 2 Episode 4 - REACTION

Comments

- Jiyoon getting the reality check she needs. - Gyuri is the star of this performance and Jiyoon has made some moves in the right direction. But overall this is weaker than Bad Boy. - Whistle vs Panorama was really close. And then we got to Minsol vs Saebi 💀 - I really would not want to be Minsol in this situation. - No surprises with the Ground winner. Bad Boy was just better. - The way the announcer talks about eliminations, she sounds like she was lifted straight from Squid Game. - Damn, somehow I wasn't expecting Yuiko to be among the eliminated here. - But I'm glad Minsol made it. For Saebi's sake. - Boys Planet is a bit of an outlier tho. That show alone debuted like 7 different groups (ZB1, Evnne, One Pact, TIOT, TOZ, Ampers&One, XLOV and you could even make a case for BDU but that was a different survival show and Jay Chang is in One Pact as well) and even a bunch of soloists. Most survival shows aren't this prolific. - Vocal unit with a song from the best vocalist currently alive on planet Earth? My expectations are VERY high. - Rain On Me. That takes me back. It was actually the entire Chromatica album and Lady Gaga's collab with Blackpink that prompted me to check out some kpop again after being away from it for a while. And then I stumbled across BTS Mic Drop which really launched me down the rabbit hole of this genre. And the rest is history. - The way Sujung was basically forced into the creative role 😂 - Eyes Nose Lips is indeed a very mature song and quite personal to Taeyang as it deals directly with his actual breakup with Min Hyo-rin at the time. But the two got back together after some time and are now happily married and even have a child together. - Hell yes, love that confidence from Sujung! - Somi is always a welcome sight :) - You actually have heard Eyes Nose Lips already. Park Bom covered it on Queendom. - Fine unit looks like they dressed for two different songs - Yeah, Kim Jaehwan was on Produce 101 Season 2. He's a solo artist today. - I don't think I've seen Jungeun struggle this much before. But I get it, Fine is one HELL of a song to ask a 16 year old to sing. - I have chills. That was damn near perfect. Wow. - Oookay, Eyes Nose Lips was just as good! Damn. I have a personal bias towards Taeyeon, so I'll give it to Fuko and Jungeun but I will not be surprised at this going either way. - ONE POINT. ONE. - Wow, an interim check where everyone gets praised? That's possible? - Koko is 173.5 cm and she is using every millimeter of that to her advantage. - Holy shit, dude. Koko! And Juwon! And Jiwon! - Calling it now, Koko is gonna go down in kpop dance history as one of the all time greats.

- glad that after so many survival shows some people understand (finally) how MNE works. so I'm one of the first to slap their fingers when they have production problems or for the rare times when they create completely embarrassing situations (like in GP999 with Fu ya-ning and Yujin). but most of the time MNET just uses the situations created by the participants and uses them to make entertainment. showed the moments of weakness of a candidate for the most part showed how this candidate has evolved for the better and has overcome, his fears, or his doubts. this is the case with Jiyoon who has like Chaeyeon at the time a lot of doubts. - team OOH-AHHH clearly the concept was perfect for girls like Gyuri or Chaeeun and Gyuri carried the performance almost all alone. Jiyoon sang well but she was clearly not too comfortable with this concept. The other girls were invisible for the most part. - I think from having seen this with a lot of idols Jiyoon's problem is adaptability it is certain that many idols perform on concepts that they do not necessarily like it was the case with the girls of Dreamcatcher for example. But despite this like many idols they were content to adapt hoping that the next comeback the concept would suit them better, some girls do not like to wear certain haircuts, to dye their hair or to wear pink. But they do it. This is why when idols are part of agencies that let them manage their concepts the idols feel freer and say it in their songs. Jiyoon is still in the adaptation phase it will come from her if she finds the right state of mind the rest will follow. she is pretty she has a pretty voice no reason she can't do it. - for the results of the I-landers it was super tight until Saebi's result honestly I felt it from the beginning Saebi has huge potential. she is not necessarily very good at singing or dancing. but she has this X factor that makes great idols. she was born to be an idol. and it shows in her performances she is ultra bright. but I was sad for Yuju she is really my crush my heartthrob - yes for once it was obvious that Team Bad Boy was going to win largely thanks to Fuko's leadership - yes clearly dozens of groups since produce 101 have made their debut with "losers" of all the survival shows that there have been these last 10 years. so we will dream of some of them for sure. - I haven't gotten on the hype train for Jongeun since the beginning of the show I didn't really click with her she is a very good participant but I like so many other girls that I put her aside a little. Vocally she is still a little novice to match with voices like Jo yuri's (that's why the production lowered the key so she could reach the notes) in her panorama performance and for Taeyeon's song it will be very hard for her but for Fuko too I remember that this performance was very cool - for Sujung it was obvious that the girls were going to push her into the creative team the question is will she not have too much pressure because given her experience the expectations will be very high. - I don't like Lady gaga at all but I really like the song "Rain on me" this song is a very good club song and perfect for dancing. the 2 Rain on me performances are among my favorites of this season. - same for Koko there was a huge enthusiasm from people and producers for her (with good reason she is a very good dancer too) but I prefer Juwon. What is certain is that the 2 combined make a very good dance unit. - LOL yes DG I noticed it's the first time that you express so many favorites so early in a show. For me it's rather the opposite I have from the beginning a lot of favorites and it is reduced according to their performances or my feeling with them. I like most of the girls and I already have 7 favorites Fuko, Yuju, Saebi, Jiyoon, Sujung, Sarang, Jeemin. - Fuko and Jungeun's performance on Fine pleasantly surprised me. Jungeun struggled so much on Panorama that I didn't see her performing Fine as well and I knew that Fuko was a good singer but I didn't think she would succeed as well. moreover they gave me emotion I always enjoy watching this performance again. I think however that they lowered the key again the original version goes higher than that. - Jiyoon and Minseol's performance was perfect too at the time I didn't choose a winner because frankly the 2 performances were very good. - the Juwon team was so good Juwon's facial expressions are just perfect. top tier performance for the moment.

About the character arcs for many contestants in Part 1 (Episode 1-6) is that all these episodes in Part 1 were filming and ended before the first episode even aired so you will see the story and narration the Mnet wants to tell for each contestant in Part 1. So they already got an idea who should be the focus of the show or who is already eliminated thus not giving much focus.
