Another David Renwick reference to classic horror and mystery writing; for anyone who doesn't know, "we have put her living in the tomb" is a quotation from The Fall of the House of Usher by Edgar Allan Poe, which (in fairly typical Poe style) concerns a man burying his own sister alive. Though thankfully, she's not called Kylie. I agree with others that you can really see the writing going from strength to strength. Where the S1 episodes were often a string of vaguely-related comic vignettes that tended to meander to a conclusion, at this point Renwick began to master the art of weaving plot threads together to finish on a bang. And when you can turn the grisly deaths of two pets in a single episode into belly laughs - especially for an audience as animal-loving as the British public - you're onto a winner.

Haven't watched Josh's reaction yet, but I'm SO excited to do so as this is truly where the series hits the stratosphere in terms of morbidly funny and incredibly well-plotted, unexpectedly twisted storylines. S1 and the first episode of S2 were David Renwick finding his feet, but from now on LITERALLY EVERY episode until the S6 finale is an absolutely genius and mind-blowingly hilarious banger. It's one of the very few series where I can honestly say there isn't a single dull episode.

David Renwick is absolutely brilliant writer in the way he can link jokes together, example being this episode finding somebody had used their husbands suicide note to put paint prices on to later it being found by Mrs Warboys next to Victor and making her think he had taken an overdose.

The idea of Victor Meldrew on PCP doesn't bear thinking about! Or maybe a Christmas special.... :D
