Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!    Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!!

I don't know kids two episodes in and they were both good to me. I would say I like this episode more than the first one, but both are good episodes. What a fantastic cold open, it cracked me up, it was so over the top, I loved it.  What an episode folks, they have already been looking for a ship since the beginning of season six. Now they are down a crew member. I really look forward to seeing where the story goes. Remember my good people no spoilers below without putting a spoiler alert at the beginning of your comment so I know to skip it. I know people enjoying talking in detail about the show to other fans I don't have a problem with that just warn me so I know to skip your comment. A huge thanks to everyone show reaches out and warns me of spoilers in the comment section.

Thanks for watching folks !!! Hopefully, you all are happy, safe, and healthy !!

As always I would love to read your comments below

Red Dwarf : Season 7 Episode 2 Stoke Me a Clipper

Comments

The great thing about Josh is his broad sense of humour. I'm sure he can find the humour in most comedies

James Aston

Stoke me a clipper. I'll be back for Christmas t-shirt needed

OutlawStar

I liked 8 when I was younger, but now I agree that it's pretty poor. It relies a lot on toilet/crude humour (which I'm not against in the right context) and seems to give up on being an intelligent spacey/astrophysics comedy. Apart from the Cassandra episode, it was a bit of a let down, despite the brilliant casting and sets.

SP

I can't actually think what scene you're referring to. Maybe I can, but i don't wanna spoil it. Is it the one that went on longer than it needed to and there is an outtake of the scene lasting a lot longer?

Jason

Glad you enjoyed this episode! :) I thought at the start of you watching Red Dwarf - that it would be Season 7 and 8 that you would enjoy the most. Was disappointing to see so much hate on these seasons, was not expecting that. Those where my favourites when I was young, some of the best scenes and episodes, imo.

Darkraft

Not a spoiler, just a heads up.... Soon you will be treated to possible the funniest scene EVER in British sitcom. It was a big deal at the time and made national headlines.

Thankski verski muchski budski

I’m sure plenty of other nerds also enjoy it like myself. Don’t listen to people, you can’t trust them, they like Coldplay and voting for the Nazis…

Kieran B

To think I was close to not watching this show anymore because so many people said it drops off dramatically after season 6... So glad I decided to stick with it because I'm really enjoying season 7 so far. Yes it feels a little different but it's still fun. Me thinks the nerds have been over-thinking it 🤔

BigChanChan

the ace rimmer scene reminds me of the movie you dont mess with the zohan

girlsdrinkfeck

Sarah Alexander though. Fire.

Ian Webster

what a guy

mwdoom

You're over thinking it way too much. There are many plot holes throughout the series, usually due to time travel. Just enjoy the ride. :)

I forgot to mention Kung Fury in my earlier comment. It is a fantastic love letter to the 80's! There's going to be a sequel released next year too and I can't wait!

(Just) Steve

My biggest issues with this episode would be the massive size of Starbug's interior. I know they hand-waved it in the last episode with a "300% increase of the size of the cargo deck", but it still doesn't make sense. For example, how was Ace able to land his craft within Starbug? Where would the entrance to the interior be? There's no hanger bay doors or anything on the exterior of Starbug. Also, where did Lister find a full psychical medieval knight costume from, outside of the AR unit? That's my biggest issue with series VII (outside of the poor CGI replacing the beautiful models of series 1-6); a lack of thought and consideration put into the internal logic. It feels as though all of the stories were written to take place on Red Dwarf itself, but were retroactively shoehorned into being set on Starbug. I don't understand the thinking behind it at all. Why not just have had the crew rediscover Red Dwarf itself at the start of series VII, instead of coming up with "a 300% increase in size" nonsense. Overall, I really do like series VII though.

Right Said Brett

I've always thought that series VII doesn't deserve the hate it gets. It's certainly flawed but I personally really dig the move to more of a drama/comedy mix and it has some fantastic scenes and moments peppered throughout. It's certainly a damn sight better than series VIII, where due to the negative feedback of VII, Doug Naylor went in the opposite direction and made it constant jokes (jokes which didn't feel at all right for Red Dwarf - it's sort of a bizarre mashup between the juvenile humour of children's TV and salacious Carry On esque ogling of women). Seriously, series VIII is DREADFUL and I'll be really curious to see After Work Reactions thoughts on it when he gets there.

Right Said Brett

As someone who was originally critical about series 7 when it first aired, I'm loving being proven wrong. Another great episode, and I know that there's at least two more this season that are amongst my favourites. I'm looking forward to re-evaluating this and following seasons that I unfairly disliked at the time, and I'm just happy that RD continued regardless of the writer changes.

Jay

Season 7 is so underrated the writing in this season is awesome

Stu 79

I still love season 7.

ALW

Hey there Josh, I just searched down Kung Fury out of interest(had it confused with Kung Fu Hustle at first) and found it on YouTube...that is an insane film! Ridiculously stylish, funny, clever, almost like a Bayonetta cutscene blended with classic Streets of Rage and Naked Gun, but really like nothing I've ever seen before. I owe you one for turning me onto that...

Saul

I can see why two episodes in the criticism of series VII might not make much sense. Two strong funny scenes followed by a neat conclusion to Rimmer’s story arc. Even at the time the special effects felt like they needed a bit more time and money put in. As always the series documentaries are fascinating and fun once you’ve finished the episodes.

Philip

I’ve always love this episode. The intro with Ace Vs the Nazis is amazing. And the feels when you see how many Ace’s have been around

james

Dude, your third paragraph is a spoiler

Manly Stump

Ace Rimmer air surfing on a crocodile........ What a guy!

Alex

Gonna miss Rimmer. One of the all time greats. Looking forward to seeing your reaction to the rest of the season. I agree never agreed with the hate this season got lol but that’s just me Lol. Thanks again

Jonathan Giles

Just imagine an Ace Rimmer/Lord Flasheart movie 😁

Rich Moyse

Ahh, that's where I know him from. I appreciate it bud. Yeah, she is very attractive, looked her up she's 50 and still looks great. I would have had a crush on her too lol.

After Work Reactions

Well said! I look forward to seeing things unfold. I had to look up watch this space lol. I have never heard that used before.

After Work Reactions

He definitely watched them on the first episode of S7Ep1 because he mentioned something which suprised him - which is a spoiler, so I won't mention what it is in case he's forgotten!

(Just) Steve

Brian Cox played the King, you probably recognise him from the X-Men sequel X2 where he played William Stryker. He's been in many things over the years though. I forgot Sarah Alexander (who played the Queen) was in this episode. I had a massive crush on her back in the day!

(Just) Steve

It really is a dis-service to the show to say people hated this season or the like. Its true some seasons are better then others, but there has never been a bad one. If you like red dwarf, you will enjoy them all, just at varying degrees. If there is one thing red dwarf does well, its continuity, so when you say "I cant wait to see where this goes", all i can say spoiler free is, watch this space :)

Belekai

I'm all for the "no spoilers" policy, but I'm curious if you avoid watching the opening credits? All the clips from the upcoming season do tend to give you an idea of what's going to happen so if you really want to avoid spoilers it's best not to watch that!

Manly Stump

I did wonder if Josh would know about Bonjela but then I remembered in Marooned Rimmer listed a tube of "Bonjela gum ointment" in the food they had for Lister to survive on.

Manly Stump

I've seen this a lot when I was younger but only just realised the princess's name in the intro has the very un-sexy name Beryl Bonjela! (Bonjela is a brand of mouth ulcer medication over here.) Maria Von Trapp was the lead character in The Sound of Music, by the way (based on a real life singer from Vienna).

David Lyons

“Now they are down a crew member.” 📉📉📉

Leon Tallis

That was a joke Craig-fans... He was very good in This Is England. I was only tryin' to wind you up. Relax.

Tony Smyth

After a long day been looking forward to see josh watch another episode

dubs

Craig Charles is a terrific actor. He was brilliant in Robot Wars. He looked excited.
