Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!    Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!!

This was a good first episode I got to know some of the characters and it was funny. Smithy, Pam, and Nessa are the funniest character's so far. The uncle looked familiar but I couldn't put my finger on where I have seen him before. I had to look it up he's the host of Would I Lie To You. I look forward to watching the rest of the show. I hope everyone is having a fantastic day !!!

Thanks for watching folks !!! Hopefully, you all are happy, safe, and healthy !!

As always I would love to read your comments below

Gavin & Stacey: Season 1, Episode 1

Comments

I didn't know anything about this show and I really enjoyed the first episode.

Josip Buretic

I wondered how they could be smoking in a pub/club but then looked and it started just before the smoking ban...bit weird, surely they knew it was coming in when they shot it.

Jon Johnson

"The world got to see James Corden as a fat pussy. He was also in the movie Cats" -Ricky Gervais Haha in all fairness he does a very good job in Gavin & Stacey

Michael

I believe it's because he got his break doing things like Gavin and Stacey(he wrote it with the woman who plays Nessa) , playing the loveable fool and people believe he sold out and became americanised. Just my take though

Joe

I've definitely missed something when it comes to James Cordon. I just don't get all the hate. I beg of you, someone, explain to me what he's done.

tania P. Bear

23:53 That blooper always makes me laugh. ‘Where’s my trousers? Why did I write this bloody scene?

Daniel Davies

im not a fan of him either ,but im not gonna moan and let it be a problem for me

girlsdrinkfeck

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it yet but James Corden really is a shit. Every British person knows it.

Maybe Dave wanted to avoid the toll on the Severn Bridge and chose the long way around. It's also shown in one of the Christmas specials (I think) that Dave likes to take a break from driving at one of the services. Gav would stil probably have to gun it to beat her there though, especailly as he'd have to find when Dave Coaches terminates.

Spooony

I’ll never understand how Gavin managed to get a cab from central London back to Billericay and then drive all the way to Barry in Wales, before the bus got there. You’re right though, Gavin and Stacey is where the “drama” and normal story happens - it’s all the other characters that make it a comedy. This is what made James Corden his big break, he and Nessa (Ruth Jones) wrote it

Sam Dilks

I was so happy when I saw that you were doing this. I love it, I love everyone in it, I love everything about it and I don't care who knows it. I honestly think you will like it too, I wouldn't vote for it otherwise. Thank you for all the laughs you give me Josh.

tania P. Bear

lmao when people announce they're leaving. we get it bro you're upset about it.

Michael

I actually like gavin a Stacey it’s quite comforting and really liked it when it first came out. Xx

Sorry Josh, I'm out, maybe I'll come back in a couple of months. All the best dude, really enjoyed your vids.

Ronnie Hotdog

This was well put, good job!

Austin Stratton

Never quite understood why it got so much hatred; maybe it's the comedic equivalent of Coldplay; very friendly, welcoming, MOR and scarily popular. But the thing about Coldplay that their haters refuse to acknowledge is that they wrote some sublime songs for their first three or four albums, and Gavin And Stacey likewise has some very good writing(and some brilliant performances. the actress from Abigail's Party as the mum is great in this episode). Of course there's the drag factor of James Corden, who seems to be hated by everyone who ever mentions his name, but I don't really know why he's so reviled either. He's just a kind of beige sofa; I don't have an opinion on him either way. It nudges up against laddish, Loaded, oi-oi blokeishness, which I dislike, but that's just me.

Saul

To be fair most of the shows Josh has watched so far are the absolute pinnacle of British comedy. I do like this show though and there's still some great ones to come.

Chris H

Aye, it was Ruth Jones (the big welsh lass) who really dive the writing. I have no idea how Cordon wankstain got so famous.

JedBullet

The nicest thing I can say about this show is that it was made before James Corden became a wanker. Its not too bad, it is just not in the same class as other shows reacted to so far. Congrats on the 100k YouTube subs Josh, looking forward to seeing your plaque.

Mick Mills

I've never seen it before but I've decided to watch along. One episode in, it's funny enough, sweet enough and I have a crush on Stacey. Smithy however, is far too James Corden. I'm going to find it hard not to look past 15 years of James Corden-ness.

Ian Webster

If you ever need help with references or slang and want clarification without googling, we'll be more than happy to help, with half the series being in Wales it might be harder than normal. Although it still has way less obscure references than Peep Show.

Spooony

I didn't know the artists but I enjoyed the music I will have to look up the songs. I miss when shows had good music in them.

After Work Reactions

Thanks for the tip bud.

After Work Reactions

I totally agree man, I can find similarities in people I have personally known in my life to characters on all of these shows I have watched so far.

After Work Reactions

I agree man I was bummed about Peep show but this show seems great so far =]

After Work Reactions

Awesome bud hope you enjoyed. Thank you man she is doing well =] Take care and have a great week.

After Work Reactions

Definitely a recognition show too, “we all know a Pam” etc is a big part of it. I don’t think you need to be English to relate completely though, you’ll see the equivalent things you recognise

Joe S

This is great. Gets much funnier. Lots of very Brit centric pop culture references so you may need to do some googling. Though they tend to be throw away lines that just add to the layers. TBH, this just saved my sub. After Peep show I was worried it would be something criminal like Come Fly With Me again.

Chris

The sound track is so good! The libertines and the kooks! Didn't love the show but I did like it, happy to watch along with you again tho man, the music takes me back to my mid 20s fuck I'm getting old! 😂👍🏼

Daniel

I think that you might have some trouble with this one mate. Some bits are very Welsh, lots of Welsh phrases. Very Welsh and very funny. Also I live 5 minutes from Barry (the town Stacy lives in)

Ah go on then. It's probably been over a decade since I've seen this but let's give GaS a go again. I remember liking it

Michael

great reaction josh ..I saw all of these ages ago and it will be fun watching them again :)

Markos

league of gentlemen will have josh laughing so much ...its his kind of humour :)

Markos

Its a nice harmless show that's fairly well written. I didn't vote for it, but I'm not horrified that it won, and I'll happily watch along. Still waiting for Dark Place, Spaced, and the League of Gentlemen. Now that Gavin and Stacey's out of the poll pot. hopefully one of these will be next!

Rob Thompson

Well, like you Josh, this is the first time I've watched this as well. Just loved the laid back, subtle humour to it. Looking foward to the next episode.

Shaun Heals

love a bit of gavin and stacy! never saw it as a good show to react to but honestly if you end up enjoying it as much as we do then thats all that matters!

Jason

I didn't vote for this, but I'm glad it won. It is a good show. Although, I don't think James Corden should have gone any further than being Smithy.

Jack Nicholas

Glad you enjoyed it bud, it's one of my favourite shows. The characters are great.

Matty Bate

It's too... Soviet 😂

Manly Stump

Gets better and better as it goes. You were right about the funniest characters however staceys Uncle Bryn has some of the best moments

Joe S

Also 'like two peas in a bag'😂

Michael Harrop

First time ever watching this so I’ll be reacting with you Josh!

Ethan furness

Rank = disgusting, Munter = ugly girl. Did you pick up on Smithy's incorrect phrases? Among other things, he said, "The lights are out, but everybody's gone out" instead of "... but nobody's home". Also, "A, B, and three". His thing is getting well known sayings wrong, so look out for it 😁

Steve Small

You forget how much people smoked, and smoking indoors too! You never see people smoking any more since all the rules came in and smoking is so expensive now. I was shocked to see a pack of 20 be £12 at the local shop, and they're all hidden behind a door with loads of pictures of rotting organs lol. I miss smoking in a way though, it was a time to be social at work... now I don't talk to any one lol.

Yeh the only way I can lose weight is to listen to my stomach. It's hard for me to do though as it's so easy to say "I'll just have a snack" or after a long walk "I deserve an extra meal" lol. However I just have to say "only eat when I'm hungry" and just force myself to stick to it. Cause when you're hungry you do know about it, but over eating for so long you forget the sense of feeling hungry. It turns out I only need one meal a day to not feel hungry, so I just have dinner and that is it. Though starting a new job I put on 3st right away cause I was eating to just have something to do at lunch.

I think this is one series that seems to be really liked by people or really disliked. 🙂

Mr K

Hey Josh, a couple of pointers... Nessa and Stacey are always talking about famous people they (mostly Nessa) have met, interacted with or had relationships with. So when Nessa is telling a story of when her and "somebody" hooked up, or had a relationship, or something else. The joke is that they are famous and Nessa from this tiny town in Wales somehow knows them. Most of the show is a piss take out of Welsh people and how they speak. The things that you think sound wierd, or contradictory (I'll be there now, in a minute), sound the same to English people. That's the joke. Enjoy 😁

Steve Small

This is first winner that I haven't seen already. I've heard very many good things about it but I'm a lazy b*stard. I'm even lazier than Joe Wilkinson, and he sleeps in a skip. I'm too lazy to search for it but seeing as how I paid for it already it better be as good as people say it is. Let's GO!

Tony Smyth

To get some of the exaggerated differences (like Bryn saying “you’re going to London, England” like it’s on the other side of the world...) imagine that Stacey is from Gary, Indiana and Gavin is from Chicago 😆 Or perhaps more accurately, Stacey is from small town Delaware - and Gavin is from New Jersey (specifically Jersey City) - and they meet up in Manhattan. It’s not a perfect analogy but keep both of those comparisons in mind and I think you’ll get more out of it.

Kieran B

Love this show.. and I'll tell you for why

OutlawStar

And so it begins .. awright Josh whats occurin.

will doyle

What a great way to brighten up our Mondays!

AWR93

Alison Steadman is hilarious as Pam.

Leon Tallis

Well it was really sad to say goodbye to Peep Show this week but I'm so excited for this! So many wonderful characters, its a very heartfelt and touching journey

Michael Harrop

Looking forward to this! Also how is Tay, Josh? Haven't seen her in a while. Hope she's well, send her our love :-)

Starlight

It's the other characters that make this show. Gavin & Stacey are pretty bland characters in my opinion.
