I thought Alan finding a friend who is just like him is too good to be true. I was thinking the dude would steal Alan's girl or something and that would end the freidship. The whole sex thing ending the friend was hilarious. I reacted to that scene a while back and this time it was so much better. Actually knowing how Alan and Lynn are as characters and watching the situation leading up to it. Because it came out of the blue which made it so much funnier. Don't get me wrong when I watch the clip I thought it was funny too. Because it was a horny couple trying to sleep with a guy who was clearly uncomfortable with it lol. I honestly forgot the majority of the lines from that scene I just remember the situation of a horny couple and a weirded-out guy. Surprised Micheal didn't want to hang with Alan maybe he was ashamed of his place or something.

2021-01-12 15:37:36 +0000 UTCMy impression was just that it was a 'worlds collide' moment, like George Costanza talks about in Seinfeld. Alan was never meant to be in that private part of Michael's life, and vice versa, so there was just a shift in the atmosphere. I think Michael, for a change, was a bit embarrassed to be seen with Alan.

2021-01-12 13:59:50 +0000 UTCIt's been interesting seeing what a difference getting to know this character makes for the reactor. I think when Josh started out watching AP there really was no frame of reference for him in American comedy and it can be sort of bewildering trying to get a handle on what's meant to be funny, because so much of the comedy comes from AP's...unique...personality. Coogan can do more with a single silent expression than other comedians manage in an entire episode. So I think you have to live with Alan for a while before he starts to make any kind of sense as a human being. And now I think Josh understands him in a way he didn't at the outset, by this point the jokes hit harder, the little micro-expressions are funnier, you know alan's personality and you can tell when he's really impressed by someone else's quick wit('The Lex Files' .... 'God that's good'), all little things that add up to make the show more enjoyable. Which is why I thought this channel would've been better off starting with Knowing Me Knowing You, just so Josh could be introduced to Alan and his foibles. But still, the journey's been great, and I hadn't seen this episode in ages either, so it was like watching it anew. Brilliant episode, this second season is sublime.
