Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!    Spoiler Alert !!!!   Spoiler Alert !!!!Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!! Spoiler Alert !!!!

This was a great start to season 2. Gareth cracked me up talking about his father saying darkies instead of coloreds lmao. Watching Tim give Dawn the cold shoulder was tough dude, I was thinking I was rooting for this guy now he's being kind of cold-blooded. It was cool seeing them lighten up and go back to normal. I love how Gareth already knew they were up to something when they walked in lol. Her fiance definitely overreacted, dude do you really think she felt she was doing something wrong? If she did feel she was doing something wrong or forbidden why would she do it in front of the entire office? Not only are you overreacting but you must think pretty low of your girl, assuming she is dumb enough to cheat on you in front of everyone. Maybe he was cheated on so many times he no longer trusts anyone he is with, who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. This was a great episode with just enough cringe and laughs to balance it out.

Thanks for watching folks !!! Hopefully, you all are happy, safe, and healthy !!

As always I would love to read your comments below

He has certainly had an awesome career.

I love how far Martin Freeman (tim) has come since this show. He was brilliant as Dr Watson in sherlock, 3 hobbit feature films and outstanding in Fargo season 1. Sure theres other stuff but those are the ones that stick in my mind.

Agreed, especially when the joke isn't aimed at the 'stereotype' itself, like Josh said in his last Fawlty Towers review. In this Gareth's joke (that Brent steals) isn't funny in itself, the laughter comes not from the joke but the awkwardness of Brent telling it in front of a black man. Gareth's comment about "darkies and coloureds" isn't funny because it's funny to call black people those names, it comes from gareth's ignorance and the juxtaposition of him thinking he is more 'cosmopolitan' for using a different word to his grandad despite his word being equally as offensive. But as you say, today, only the words used would be analysed and deemed as racist comedy.

Shame is in this day and age you couldn't write this but it is funny. The good old days when light hearted stereotype jokes was laughed at. Must be so hard to write comedy tv shows now as you have to be so careful not to offend anyone. Great reaction as always josh 👍🏻

I am loving watching this with you, so much! One of my favorite shows, seen it a million times, but how great is it watching someone else watch something you love? Also, gives you that awesome anticipation, of having to wait a week for the next one. You don't get that anymore these days.

After Work Reactions

Thanks bud the cringe on this show is real lol

After Work Reactions

Certainly sounds like you're better off without her.

(Just) Steve

The Tim (me) and Dawn (her) situation in the office I used to work at is all too real. The only difference is that if her boyfriend had ever put his hands on me he'd have been picking his teeth up!

(Just) Steve

He's seen four candles for sure.

Z is for Zed

One of the jokes was a reference to The Two Ronnies, I think you have reacted to a couple of their sketches. The one Brent mentions is the Piss Minunciation one, brilliant stuff.

Picking back up on your intro about the Dawn thing, it's made clearer what she was really thinking and feeling after you watch the final episode as there something in there that clearly can answer's it and resolve your confusion (this is not a spoiler, just extra info for you to think back too once you see it).

NEXUS

this whole episode was so funny

Leeroy Nabowitz

Harry Enfield had some great sketches but there were some awful ones too. This was one of the worst, funny the first time you saw it but every week the same joke was repeated, slightly reworked, building towards the same catchphrase "I don't believe you wanted to do that did you" every time. The character of Ray Stokes in Extras must have been based off this sketch at least a little bit, it feels like this was exactly the kind of comedy they were having a dig at.

Chris H

The opening is also the song Mahna Mahna from the Muppets. It's done really well as the bit when David Brent cuts in is the bit in the song which is interrupted and messes with the melody, which is how Brent is, trying to get in on conversations and make things awkward. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=8N_tupPBtWQ

Danny

The Harry Enfield joke is from Harry Enfield and Chums. It references this character and sketches here https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nkZdTHmX0TQ

Danny

I’d forgotten how painful this episode was

Kieran B

This episode is loaded with awkward and cringe moments. I find myself having to look away in embarrassment at at least half the episode

Danny

Josh, some context as to why Brent points to a toy 'monkey' propped up on the coat hanger (and has done on several episodes) to his new boss and puts on a 'Johnny Vegas' voice. Johnny Vegas made a very famous TV advert for PG Tips, which is a brand of tea in the UK and it featured Vegas talking to a Puppet Monkey. Hilarious as only Jonny could do it... It became massive across the UK with everyone buying into the brand and the puppet monkey (if you bought shitload of Tea), shouting Jonny's slogan 'Monkey, but in his Lancastrian accent 'Monk-eh'... They change the' y' to sound 'like 'eh' up north.

Publico

I dont agree with that in the workplace! The cringe just keeps on increasing with this show doesnt it 😂

Michael Harrop

I think you were spot on there with Dawn, I think the big strength of the office is that they don’t act like scripted sitcom characters, they largely act like real people who know they’re being filmed for a documentary so you get more subtle and more complicated reactions and emotions when it’s at its best. We all know people like everyone in the Office, we all work with people just like this. The US Office was great too but it strayed away from the documentary crew thing, it became coincidental, whereas in the original it never goes away and it’s very central. I get why the US Office went that way because the studio wanted to keep making more like a traditional sitcom and it’s not a sustainable device for that long. Usually the creator has a bit more of a say over things here (relatively) and will stop when they want to, when they think the story has been told.
