General Update CW34/2022

Hey everyone,

another update from my side.

We are finally getting places, currently I am putting every minute I have into this project, but it just is so darn huge.
I realize that I am going absolute bonkers and overboard, but I am in too deep to go back or only do it partially.

I finally want to share some more detail with you though.

Almost everyone wanted to have more details, though the majority said files are not necessary.
Frankly speaking, when I opened the poll I didn't fully grasp the scale of this creation, but now that I can, I wouldn't like to share the files anyway.
It really feels like sharing files at this point would ruin the immersion as pretty much everything is very broken and in a status of development.

As mentioned so many times before, this time around we are going to have a game, and as such it isn't easy to split out any random part as it is in a CYOA with a linear storyline.
Everything is interconnected, so it basically means if one part is broken, then so is everything else.

BUT I can share some gifs and pictures for you (hope the links are public):

First off the characters and a short explanation.

As you guessed, this game, again, will heavily feature transformation, mental changes and everything along those lines. I want to create as much freedom for the player and as many outcomes as possible. This includes dozens to hundreds of ways for you or npc characters to change or be changed. I found out about a very neat website called Artbreeder that helps to really easily create pictures and videos of every possible gender and race of fictive (or reality based) versions of people.

Take a look here:

In the end the game will probably have around 200-300 hundred of these transformations, though I didn't calculate the possible combinations (too lazy to be honest, also things are still changing), so it could be a 1000 as well for all I know.
However many it takes will be what I create.

Secondly some sneak peaks at the game itself.

I really try to find a way to not spoil anything while still not leaving you in the dark.
I honestly realize how insanely long it has been since I last released anything, and again, I can't stress enough how much it means to me that there are still people hanging on.
All I can say is that I am working every spare minute on this, but I understand that it can sound like empty words when I don't have anything to show for.
So I decided that I can show you this without giving away too much:

To give some context to these screenshots:

At the left you can see the familiar (if you played Unforeseen Consequences) layout for character portraits and menu buttons, although I customized that a little as you can probably see from the Settings button, which is normally not there.

At the right you can see a calendar + time system, which some other games have too, below that is a set of 10 character stats that all directly influence choices you have available and can give you an idea what the outcome of an encounter could be.
Having low intelligence? Probably not best to go into a battle of wits, then again that option might not even be available when you are too dumb.
Paired with that there are what feels like 100 other parameters that run in the background to decide options, npc behavior and situational outcomes.
As you also can see I tried my hand at some very questionable pixel art (the dollar sign and heart are mine). At this point I am gonna say -> if anyone feels like they want to contribute with pixel art for the remaining stats I would be very happy and thankful, I really suck at this stuff, just contact me if you are interested.

Last but not least you can direct your eyes to the center of the screen. I went for background pictures for all the rooms, some of them static, others animated.

For example the night:

There are some unnoticable changes in the Javascript and CSS, but they should make things smoother when actually playing the game.

I will leave it at that since this already is by far my longest post ever.
There is tons and tons more to talk about, now that I am finally putting something out there.
It's been an interesting few month with hundreds of hours I put into this.
I can't yet promise when I am done, since, for example, I have about 100 video fragments collected already for scenes, but by my estimation I need 2000-3000 (yeah I know... what the fuck).

Many parts I need have a higher % completion though, so it's hard to say how far we are overall.

Thanks again for sticking with me for so long... give me a little bit longer and I hope it will be all worth it in the end.

As always, stay safe and save money for the energy bill so you don't miss out once I release this!
