They dound very much like normal japanese idols. It's literally the same sound as AKB48 or the anime Idolm@ster.

I do wonder if the J-pop audience informed a lot of the more cutesy decisions around the song. They definitely have some room to grow in maturity as a group, I think.

Btw I'm not a fan of kawaii performances. Although I don't follow J-pop (see above); this seems to be perfect for that market. Jason, another Korean music you-tuber acquaintance just asked his followers if he should start doing J-pop content (He's done a bit already, mostly in a comparative to K-pop fashion) . He should be a a good source since I think he spent almost an equal time in Japan as a freelance music writer as the 5 years he spent in Seoul.
