These ante chips are perfectly crafted from thin metal and ashen wood. The Curator of the Golden Hoard casino personally bequeaths enchanted gold and silver ante chips to patrons who embody the gambling spirit. Officially, they serve as supportive encouragement that keep gamblers alive, but the Curator also uses them to keep tabs on her customers.

Gambler's Chip
Wondrous item, rare
Two types of Gambler's Chips exist, each with a different trigger for activation (no action required).
When a chip is activated, you must declare either Horns or Tail and then flip a coin. If your declaration is correct, you double the result of the roll. If your declaration is incorrect, the result of the roll is reduced to 0.
Once a chip is activated, it can't be used again until the next dawn.

DESIGN COMMENTARY
Items without persistent benefit have no attunement requirements, essentially granted as 1-use items. This is an all-or-nothing proposition, grant essentially equal chances of doubling or negating a hit point resource. It's a net-zero effect, but I left it at rare because I'm sure some savvy players could maximize their results in some way.
This coin uses Horns or Tails instead of heads/tails. The depicted dragon is none other than the Curator herself, though her true form is never revealed to the public. Stay tuned for more about madam Gouldraphe, the Immeasurable Greed!
