[Cogwork] Weapon - Relentless March

Unlike the other hands, the hour hand is thematically centered on being unmoving and unstoppable, no matter how slow. It also provides an extra quick short rest that lets your party catch a breath and continue pushing through the adventure, as well as a special aging effect. Luckily 2d4 years is quite small, so you shouldn't have to worry about players aging the BBEG to death ... though if they are that persistent you might as well reward them.

This shortsword is the hour hand of the Grand Ingajig Clocktower aboard the moving Cogwork Citadel, suffused with magic intended only for the passage of time. The hour hand represents the unstoppable onslaught of time, always advancing without bias or concern, poised to engulf all that has ever existed.

Relentless March
Weapon (shortsword), legendary (requires attunement)

You have a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon. While holding the sword, you always know the exact time of day.

March of Time. While holding the sword, you ignore the effects of difficult terrain. You also have advantage on ability checks and saving throws made to resist being grappled, paralyzed or restrained, as well as effects that would reduce your walking speed.

The End Comes. This weapon has 3 charges and regains expended charges daily at dawn. When you hit a creature with this weapon, you can expend 1 charge to inflict the passage of time upon it. The target must make a DC 17 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, a target takes 4d10 necrotic damage and ages 2d4 years. A creature aged this way has disadvantage on its next ability check, attack roll, or saving throw. On a successful save, a target only takes half as much damage and is not aged. The effects of this aging can only be reversed by a greater restoration spell or other similar effect.

Pass the Hour. As an action, you can plunge this weapon into a suitable surface and hasten time around it in a 20-foot radius sphere centered on it. Creatures that immediately begin a short rest inside the sphere can complete the rest in 5 minutes instead of 1 hour. These creatures still experience the rest as if it were a full hour, which allows them to complete activities that take longer than the 5 minutes that elapse in real time. The sphere lasts for 5 minutes and ends early if the weapon is moved. A creature that does not spend the full 5 minutes in the sphere does not gain the benefits of this short rest. Once used, this property can't be used again until the next dawn.
