Wizards or wealthy students who cannot be bothered with the effort of note-taking turn to this notebook. However, they find more use as eavesdrop tools among thieves and investigators.

When found, each book contains 12 (2d6+5) pages of blank magical parchment. You can use an action to tear a page from the book. When a creature within 10 feet of the page speaks its command word (usually "Begin Transcript"), the page magically transcribes the words spoken by a creature within 10 feet of it. If the spoken language does not have a written alphabet, the page does not record it. If multiple creatures are within 10 feet of the page, it only transcribes the words spoken by the creature closest to it. Each page can transcribe up to 100 words, after which it becomes a piece of nonmagical paper (the transcribed words remain). 

The page can also be used to reduce the time and gold required to copy a spell into a spellbook. You can use 2 pages for each level of the spell you copy, which halves the time and gold required to copy it.

A book wyrm with the Relativistic trait is subjected to additional effects when it consumes a page from this book, depending on the type of text written on it:

Copied Spell (2 pages per level). If a spell copied onto the page targets one creature and requires only 1 action to cast, it is cast on the book wyrm. If the spell requires the wyrm to make a saving throw, it automatically fails.

Horror Story. If the page contains a terrifying story, the book wyrm is frightened.

 Romance Story. If the page contains a touching story, the book wyrm is charmed.
