[The Peach Pit] S3 Ep. 22 - Clancy Meeting You Here

The Dad Crew sits down to talk about the latest episode of The Peachyville Horror!

Comments

Listening to Beth's ending story was like watching the exorcist for me

Boofo, Hero Of The Hunt

When Will did the "You're going to go to Harvard Law" bit, I immediately had the awful thought (spoilers for a movie that is 30+ years old, but spoilers for Dead Poets Society) "wow, Francis is so Neil Perry pilled." (He is definitely not but that is what this podcast has done to my sense of humor)

Marissa Y

One of the dudes from the old Reply All podcast has a new solo podcast called Hyperfixed. He just did a 3 part series about cat FIP support groups, because the treatment was/is illegal or not approved by the FDA or something, so you had/have to go black market https://www.hyperfixedpod.com/listen/hyperfixed/the-cat-drug-black-market

Jesse Barbour

Tw: suicide. I just wanted to pop in here and thank Beth for saying that Francis's actions should harm the party rather than help them. Ever since the movie it part 2 came out I've been haunted by the fact that in the movie one of the characters kills himself because he knows his friends will be better able to handle the monster without him. And the movie treats it like it was the right move. That's horrifying. That's like validating the voice in your head that whispers that people would be better off without you. It feels irresponsible

Tara

Idk if anyone else mentioned this already but if you need needles or syringes connect with a trans person they will most likely have some kind of supply you can use if stores won't sell you them. so glad the kitty is doing ok

dagny

I relate so deeply to your stress and panic FIP story-- after 3 months of daily shots, my kitty Zuko was cured and he's been kicking for a year and a half! Worst day of my life was driving to do black market drug deals with an old lady

Lillianna Righter

Gay country, hmm.. try Melissa Etheridge, Come to My Window.

Bastian

shoutout to tractor supply, thats where i get my needles and syringes for my testosterone injections

the lubricated eldritch rat

This is so insane to hear about FIP now because 4 months ago I had never heard of it or knew of the illness and sadly one of my cats ended up with it and we noticed it due to the exact same reason which was his eye sight. Bagheera just finished his treatment 2 weeks ago and is in remission - I promise it gets better but it is tough to begin with. Our cat lost his eye sight to begin with and has gained about 90% of his sight back

GingerNoob69420

Man what a good cat mom, almost made me cry at work, hope he’s doing better.

MuteMouse

I know Kitten Lady has posted a lot about FIP, I know a lot of cats who have made it so I’m hoping for the best! Also gay country-wise - try Mya Byrne!

Kitty Stryker

22:25 I remember this story from a long talking Dads. God the lore goes hard

Tinyhumanbrain76

I would 100% want to absorb technical manuals. I would finally learn about my car!

Tinyhumanbrain76

Most self help books are very average imo. I still read them but it’s very basic and simple stuff. There are some good ones though

Tinyhumanbrain76

16:20 LMAO HOLY FUCK THAT WAS GOOD

Tinyhumanbrain76

I really liked the way it turned from goofy to serious

Tinyhumanbrain76

Actually lmao

Tinyhumanbrain76

I LOVE the way that Will played the Mom.

Tinyhumanbrain76

I just went through that experience with my kitty who unfortunately didnt make it but reading the comments and hearing beths story makes me feel oddly more at peace knowing that im not alone. She was the cutest little kitty and I will never forget her and thank you for sharing your story beth!

Alyssa

I think that for a Cthulu system it's just gotta be constantly around the corner. It isn't pretty what happened with Francis, but it does fit the universe (given, it felt more like personal/relational issues than 'Cthulu madness'). I think they've shown how fun cycling through characters can be with KDM, and things do get stale when the characters are superheroes. I personally would like them to be more at risk, but, to your point, if Trudy were to just die in a car crash, it would feel pretty meaningless. It's up to them to frame it in a way that gives it meaning; that they can use the dollmaker's poison from her brain now, or that she was doing it to save her son, etc.

Chris

I just realized that I can say anything I want on Reddit

withinmyself

We had gone through the same process with my cat (the wizard kitty in my picture) it was super hard since he still has so many years. He is good now, but the week of him not being himself was one of the hardest things to go through! Nothing but hopes for lil Kurby!

Omlette

About Beth's cat: her insta post about getting treatment for FIP made us get our cat checked out immediately, 2 weeks later of thousands of dollars, and tests, our cat got diagnosed with FIP. Her post literally saved our cat by introducing that terminology to us to take to our vet. We are 5 days into her 84 day treatment, hoping for the best.

Kerrigan

Perfect 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Juniper Zen

"Are there any gay country songs?" Listen to Orville Peck and Brandi Carlisle. They're both Hella gay and Hella good!

Crash Panda

Not all heroes wear casts, but Beth May

sdlite

Just checked and looks like the last few treatments we did 15 mg/ml. I think a lot of people do 12 mg/ml though. The old numbers of 6-8 just aren’t high enough to avoid relapses.

Nate Ball

Beth I rescue cats have been through everything you’ve described multiple times. It’s fucking scary but it’s so so worth it. As someone who’s been through this numerous times the most important advice is that you treat them at a high enough dose. Our earlier treatments were at lower doses and relapsed, which meant we had to treat again at the higher dose. We’ve saved so many cats from FIP by going through the 12-week treatment cycle. We’ve sent thousands of dollars to China and had the meds shipped to us in fake makeup packaging. But it’s all worth it, all of the cats we have treated are alive and healthy, for some their treatment was years ago. You’re right though, the support groups are fantastic, as is the whole FIP community. Everyone is so willing to help. Thankfully we’re able to get the tablets pretty easily nowadays where I live, and our last FIP cat was treated with those and is doing great.

Nate Ball

7:30 Mrs. Wong probably: "you cant make a career out of playing magic the gathering!" Jimmy Wong: challange accepted.

Harrison Lee

Everytime i think Francis is going too dark the attempts of the 'Screams' to help him get much worse and its hard to blame anthony for not being able to pull this kid out of a nosedive.

Byron Morris

Ugh this freaking show is killing me in the best way. Last year I watched every single season of family guy, the year before I read “rich dad poor dad” AND all the books mentioned in Book Castle now I’ve gotta read all these damn Clancy novels. At least I always have something to do :)

William“KG’s Naughty Pocket”Cumpose

Sending good wishes for Kirby!

drmimms

"fucking can't get laid" 😆😆😆😆😆😆

Bex Boster

Will - there is a book called how to unfuck yourself

Khaos Crowe

Same! I’m glad they picked that question because I need more

Keith Rodriguez

Will, were you reading Hidden Potential with that genius thing? I have also listened to a stupid number of overly long self help books.

Thomas Witholt | Hermit's Mirror

My hinge profile question is the "what you spend a ridiculous amount of $$ on" - my answer is fund/produce Jar Jar portrait of a hero & Heaven Heist

Zoe Wrath

Look up Dixon Dallas

Jakob Medlin

Chuffed for you bud!!

Matt Bond

Beth May. You are the best cat mum.

Matt Bond

THEY READ MY QUESTION!!!!!

Keith Rodriguez

I love when they start talking about storytelling and writing and stuff where I just get a free lesson

Louis Frohock

Oof. My heart skipped with Kirby. FIP is awful. Best wishes for his recovery.

Rat Iguina

Beth when you posted about Kirby having FIP on ig my heart broke for you but also I had so much hope! My cat is on his last two weeks of FIP treatment and he is doing so well! The support groups in my state helped save his life and give us time and his bloodwork shows he will be ok. I just wanted to give you some hope from a positive story that is happening at the same time as your sweet guy. He will make it through! 😻

CJ the wise

Sending Kirby well wishes! You're an amazing cat mom for going through all that. Glad it's working out for you but also please be careful out there! Sounds like it was quite the ordeal

Kate+Cats

And here I thought petco was a bitch and a half having to sign up for their vetco shit in order to fulfill a prescription I had from my cat's vet for her special food.

Bearonavirus

Basically the same thing happened with my fiancé's cat. We didn't look into alternative routes tho. She was too tired and frail by that time.

Bearonavirus

I was reading recently about how feline medicine has actually seen a huge jump in recent years because up until recently there was just no research done into feline health, especially in the US. My vet diagnosed my cat with pre-kidney disease last year and prescribed special food, but a couple months ago she suddenly went downhill. After she got bloodwork done and I get a call from the vet saying that all they can do it put her down, her kidneys were failing. I just didnt understand how they couldn't do anything. But luckily I had found out about a cat kidney disease research group in Japan and I reached out and they responded with a detailed plan on how to try and save her. Those instructions literally saved my cats life. Yes she still has kidney disease, and yes she might eventually pass from it, but right now she is playing and happy, and like you said whatever more time I get with her is worth it. I am just shocked that none of what I did was even mentioned by the two local vets I consulted. tl;dr the feline health industry is terrible, especially in America. It's really, really behind in medical advances. Very best wishes for Kirby ♥️ you are amazing for going to such lengths for your furbaby.

Ramey

OMG!! So sorry about your cat Beth 😭

Emily Leith

Matt! Orville Peck and Trixie Mattel exist.

Lexi SanDiego

I would fall over for a new Christerion Collection!!!

lovo

I'm a little surprised there aren't more comments about it!

catchthese.hans

They answered my question! Yay!

The Overthinker

Beth you’re so many bats I am in awe

Keira Jade

Beth, I completely feel for you. I don't have cats currently, but do have one of 4 dogs that got COPV (Canine Oral Papilloma Virus). Normally a very contagious condition that almost every dog naturally fights off. My poor boy went through surgery every 6-8 weeks to debulk these as they were filling his mouth and making it almost impossible to eat, bursting open, and bleeding. And your comment about how vets love you because of the tests, me too, so true. It took about a year and a half of surgery, consultations with multiple pet dermatologists, 4 experimental treatments, lab work/research from 3 different universities across the country, translating a study from Portuguese, and an import from the UK and Canada for other medications. In the end it was $37,000 and a physical fight with one vet suggesting I have him put down. He has fully recovered and is thriving. He is also now part of a textbook for vets that just recently published. I truly believe that he came to me because I would do anything to save him regardless. Kirby has the greatest cat mom that will do what it takes. Prayers and hopes are here for you and Kirby from Magnus and myself.

Fyco

Omg when the cat story started I was SO worried, I was already tearing up, but that was such a better story then I expected. ❤️

Lizzy French

Question for Beth: are you really as single and horny as you say or is it more like a comedic angle/character you play? I'm a single cis-male, age-appropriate, employed, sane and happy to take you out to dinner for the story if not an actual attempt at romantic connection. Yes, I am for realz. No, I don't really expect a response, but romcoms have had worse beginnings.

Bishibosh44

In Illinois you can buy diabetic supplies at Walmart, including syringes

Virgil McClurken

What a story Beth!!!

Caleb Jud

Hey Beth, thinking of you and your cat!! I've followed someone (in Canada) who had great results with the FIP medication and their cat is fully better and healthy after the experimental trial

hexcat

I thought for sure what was going to happen with Francis was he was going to hold himself hostage and try and bring the bisons away from the house

Patrick Morris

This would not have been helpful in Kirby’s case, but for anyone who might need to know, especially HRT folks: You don’t have to have a license or business address to buy from online medical supply wholesalers. The needles you get there are also usually better quality than prescription.

Miles Mitchell 🏳️‍⚧️

Also to add, in case your vet didn't share. You did nothing to cause this. FIP is a difficult virus. You are a great owner, no matter what. Don't let the Internet trolls or fear mongering make you think any differently.

QuidditchCapn10

I mean, yeah. They did.

Darryl Holiday II

God Beth. Not everyone could be able to do that so I'm glad it all worked out for you. That sounds terrifying as hell. Really hope he stays getting better!

Darryl Holiday II

Hey Beth, I had a cat with FIP and I am here for you friend. It's really tough. Sending you so much love right now, I'm so glad you have some options for him❤️❤️❤️. Hoping he continues to improve.

QuidditchCapn10

Beth, I have to know: what are your most-prized DVDs?

Lula Hiigel

Sounds..legal lol

Billion_Dollar_Maybe

If I am doing a song for The Faith Based Episode, it's "Glory Hallelujah" by Frank Turner, where the hook is "There is no God". Hey. It's my faith

Ajz0626

That story had me crying over Kirby, I hope he makes it ❤️❤️❤️

Erin Anderson

Love the dunk on Mel Robbins BS (and plagiarised) "Let Them" book 👏🏻👏🏻

Bryn

Three cheers for Kirby!!

Matty Major

Sertraline gang

Finn Sparger

Damn, Beth is like the third DND podcaster I know of who's had to go on the FIP journey. At this point there should be a "support group" just for y'all (also, am I reading into it too much, or was the vet intentionally giving resources to find a dealer by giving out that support group info)

xatlern

How to for Dummies books, be kinda ok at a lot of things

CliftonH_VA

Dang it, I wanted more explanation from Anthony

The Dude

Hey beth, I understand the struggle. We just went through a death of a young cat about 6 months ago. My mother in laws 3 year old cat was diagnosed with stomach cancer and he went down hill quick. Hope the best for you fur baby and your pocket.

jen Rogue

I thought Freddie said tentacle book. What

Patrick T

My cat also has a terminal illness, but she got a 6 month prognosis almost 2 years ago let's gooooo!!! This is a reminder also to get your girl cats spayed before they're a year old if possible and you'll be 86% less likely to be in this position 10 years down the road.

Heather VP

And he makes kick ass music

Richard Trauma

For Matt, Orville Peck is a gay country singer. Real life Ram Ranch

Tom

Never came to the peach pit faster than this

Lav

Beth is the best cat mum. Xx

Stephanie Newbon

Damn.. hearing that american idol story is scary as fuck

Risotto

I just had a Session Zero for a new campaign I'll DM where I checked in on what the Player's thoughts are on PC Death. We all agreed that there should be consequences for 3 failed Death Saving Throws, but most said they likely won't want their characters to actually die. I also love the narrative that comes with "A character could die at any point no matter if it is fitting for a story." but I also think it's 100% legit to no want the character you spend so much love and care and thoughts for to die. (At least for a long-term game that isn't a podcast xD)

streetdreams

I’m so sorry, Beth! We lost our beloved Manny to FIP back in 2014, way before meds were even an option. I’m SO glad we have meds now and that Kirby is getting them. Wishing him a speedy and smooth recovery from this horrible illness.

Sam S.

After last week’s episode, I’m looking forward to some, for lack of a better term, after care this Peach Pit. Certainly it’ll be a bright and happy and funny episode. … Goddamnit. I’m glad Kirby is Ok though. 💛💛💛

Rogzilla

OMG sertraline mentioned

DungeonBrat

So, Beth is playing Schedule 1 with cats?

Gurpgork Baksheesh

🎵 imagine there's no sports Not even esports games 🎶

Rachel Hubble

Beth, so glad you got meds for Kirby!! I want you to know that my baby girl Raya had wet FIP & was so so sick... but she is 3 years old now & you would never know she was sick! please have hope! She was sick prior to FDA approval & i got my meds from a company out of Canada. It was injections for 84 days (sounds kind of like what youre doing) & the transformation was insane. She went from her belly being so swollen & passing out cause she was struggling to breath to eating heartily and trying to play again within a week. I'm rooting for you guys!!! Kirby is in great hands!!

Samantha Stevens

Genuine question — will the podcast ever recover from Beth’s sick “never get laid” burn? Or do they have to put out a casting call for new players?

DungeonBrat

Beth I’m so sorry you’re going through FIP with your cat! My cat child is about to start month 3 of her meds

Keegan Ike

Beth, having lost two cats to illness where I couldn't do anything, hell yeah. You do what you need to do for Kirby. On a happier note, you all are great, thanks for the awesome story telling!

Anna Krohn

Subscribed to peach pit specifically bc of this episode

Squirrelly Girlie the not very girlie squirrel

Saying that 3rd/3.5 edition DnD had less power creep than 5e is genuinely insane to me haha. Minmaxing and power gaming in 5e compared to 3.5 is the coughing baby vs hydrogen bomb matchup scenario; the power you could amass as higher level characters in 3.5 was truly staggering, and there were literally thousands of ways to do it because of the library’s worth of supplemental materials.

Benjamin P Parson Gomberg

I reached Beth's kitty Korner and my heart dropped. I've lost too many precious babies to that horrible disease. I'm so happy for you, I'm so so happy. I hope Kirby continues to thrive! That med regime is rough. You guys got this.

Nobi Wolff

Hell yeah Will, I am also a bunch of sertraline in a trench coat!

Eileen Giraffe

I just finished the episode perfect timing ya’ll

Miki

Beth utter respect for doing what you need to help your fur ball 😺

Octavia MacIsaac

Here to say, I truly believe this last episode was the best of The Peachyville Horror so far

Eli

I'm with Matt. Please bring back Dr. Sally Dog!

Cody Moriah

FIP is no joke. I worked at a shelter and vet years ago and we had nothing we could do when cats had it. It was so sad. I hope little Kirby pulls through! ❤️

Danielle English

I love that song " good lookin" I sing that song every time at karaoke

CaptainCarly

My brother self-terminated, and I sensed the ending of the episode coming but for real, I get it Beth. It's so hard to see it in people (or in this case, characters) that you're emotionally invested in. I hope everyone is taking care of themselves and each other!

Nobi Wolff

can’t get laaaaid

Zo Perry

Easily the most anticipated Peach Pit.

Justin Gantle

Early and EXCITED!

David Greaves

This should be interesting...

G_the_D

We love Beth here.

Aaron Darkblade
