That's some imaginative, nasty torture methods right there!... And hopefully, you guys read that title in James Cagney voice!

YOU DIRTY RAT! - Game of Thrones 2x4-1

Now, now, Curtis; I know it looks cruel, but I promise you the poor rat’ll be alright and find its way out of there.

He is certainly hateable in this!

I don't know if you've been told already but there's a difference between Joffrey in books compared to his character in the show. In the books we don't see him nearly as much and he was a lot younger too. This gives him the impression of being a spoiled brat who might have a chance of changing one day. In the show they opted to make him more of an irredeemable sociopath who just takes pleasure out of torturing people.

This was peak Tyrion. He was absolutely FUMING with what Joffrey and Trant did to Sansa. Bronn, though cold hearted was also rather pissed off at them too. I also love that The Hound was quick to offer Sansa his cloak to cover herself. The Hound is a cold, ruthless man, but he has his soft spots for those who are suffering. I felt so bad for that girl and Ros. As if Ros hasn't been through enough pain and misery. Joffrey did what he did to spite Tyrion. He truly is what Bronn called him. Arya was saying the names of people she wants to kill. She took Yoren's story to heart. I find this as both her anger at the ones she wants dead and the sadness she feels for his and Lommy's deaths. Rats have incredibly strong jaws. They can chew through wood and some metals. So a man's abdomen would be a cake walk for one. This was an actual torture method used in Europe. They have a bite force of about 6,000 lbs per inch where as human jaws only hit at 70 lbs per inch.

Note that the Mountain's actor changes pretty much from season to season in this series (this one is different from season 1's), but given that he's so big in all cases it's easy to identify him. The rat torture is an actual historical thing, there are some truly horrific (albeit inventive) means of torture that have been used throughout history. Look up the brazen bull if you are not too squeamish. Finally, Tyrion's buddy is named Bron, they are definitely one of the most likable duos in this series as they actually crack jokes with each other whereas everyone else is either serious, angry or sad.
