In contrast to most Getter's Neo Getter/Getter Go aren't powered by Getter Rays, but by Plasma energy, hence why no Getter Beam or Tomakawk. It and Getter Go were made post Gundam, so it's tech is designed to be more grounded in combining and abilities, being more realistic. Also, Hayato designed both versions, succeeding Saotome as Getters creator. The reason for this varies on the version. In the manga, the reason why is something that I'll explain later. In this, after Musashi's chernobyl'd New York, Getter Rays were outlawed.

2024-12-11 16:24:49 +0000 UTCThe intro scene at the start was an extended version of Musashi's last stand in the first part of the manga. But Musashi used all 3 foms instead of just Getter 1. Except since Shin vs Neo is a lot more lighthearted, heroic and toned down, when Musashi self destructs the Getter, the heat and radiation is shown physically cooking him and melting his flesh. Also, Shin Getter replaces Getter G as the intended Saotome designed Getter there.

Think was meant to be the fill in for Ryoma in Go as Ryoma became a lot more stoic by then, so Go served as the energetic shonen badass. Also he wasn't orphaned I'm the manga, but it's implied he hung around some shady friends as when an assassin showed up at his house, his Ma assumed he was one his friends.
