The relationship between Akane and Ranma in this version is SO well done! I really like their interactions a lot!

I couldn't disagree with you more honestly Charlie, the slower first season of the original nearly killed the series before it had a chance to really begin, it was so poorly received that they had to reboot and retool it with the second season for a reason. I think being more faithful to the manga is a great thing, and the fight choreography is great.

as for more remakes id love a maison one but id absolutely hate to see inuyasha be redone, that series did exactly what it needed to and frankly isnt dated looking not to mention all the toonami vibes and just general aesthetics these remakes have been kinda just killing for me. if someone wants to see inuyasha go watch inuyasha as it was meant to be, not a remake that really just wont capture the vibe of that era. stuff like intros and outros especially that ranma remake op is such a throwaway vs any of the originals 7 openings. Inuyasha getting a remake frankly would be pretty offputting for someone with such an attachment to the original, id much rather a retouching or remaster

the horde fight with akane felt way more static and bland in this too which was wild from mappa https://www.reddit.com/r/ranma/comments/1g38a37/side_by_side_comparison/

i dunno so far i havent really loved how they do character emotions/expressions thus far, like ranma overhearing akane badmouthing him and expressing genuine disappointment felt very human where the expressions here feel very cartoonish and bleh. the use of weird colors in fights in the vein of the urusei remake aswell as just weird less interesting choices in fights and honestly pretty offputting dubbing choices like kuno nabiki and ryoga which is compounded by the dub company essentially wiping out any style choices the original had like kunos funny way of speaking. I get its not what the manga wanted but those slower first 18 just are some of my favorite so the remake thus far is kinda just not doing it for me asmuch especially ranma cheering up akane about her hair, the one thing that would absolutely kill the series for me is if they dont give shampoo any kind of accent like they did with the guide in episode 1, that would be completely unforgiveable even if you cant give her what she had they should atleast hint at it with an esl voice actor. But yeah so far the remake is not something ive been following week to week with baited breath

Couldn't agree more on those add-ons being questionable. In the original, their relationship was very janky, with a lot of the squabbles and stuff not making a lot of sense. So far, in this version, it's a very interesting potential romance, and the interactions they have are done perfectly.

The remake is so much fun for me, you're right about Ranma and Akane's relationship being handled so much better. They have so much better chemistry together, you can actually see them slowly start to care for each other. I've said it before lol, but the remake is a fully faithful 1 to 1 adaptation of the original manga now, compared to the first anime which for some reason decided to add a lot of little bits of filler and padding messing with the character relationships, comedy, and pacing (you're only 3 episodes into the remake so far, but we're already at the same place as the end of episode 6 of the 80s anime). I have good reason to suspect we'll see more of her series get remade after Ranma, either Inuyasha or Maison Ikkoku, so... if that does happen expect me to sponsor them as well lol, I was right about Ranma being remade so it could happen. A lot of the little fights and squabbling between Ranma and Akane you saw in the original was not in the manga, just something the anime studio decided to add in for...comedy, drama? it never made sense to me, Rumiko is one of the best character writers in the industry, so why mess with her stories? but a lot of anime adaptations of her series try that for some reason, this remake doesn't thankfully. Oh, also the animation and colour choice is honestly some of the best I've seen recently, the animation is so expressive and fluid.
