SHOWS WHERE THE MAIN CHARACTER IS YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTER?

One Piece and Luffy is the one that always stands out for me, and I know I have a few others, but I can't think of them off the top of my head. It seems I tend to many times lean towards characters just off the main, like Killua, Ryuk, Gene Belcher, Fat Buu, etc.
What about you guys? Do you tend to lean towards main characters or others?

2024-11-25 17:20:00 +0000 UTCI mean, we have Guts from Berserk, he gets so well fleshed out that i really can't put anyone up against him in his show. Thorfinn in Vinland Saga has the same deal. Code Geass is close, but i would give it to Lulu. Steins;Gate also ends up going to Okabe. Darker Than Black also ends up being Hiei, though that is mostly because awesome stuff happens around him. It is kinda hit by not focusing enough on the characters and more on the story... It is also really close with several of the antagonists being pretty fun. Stargate, i am all in on O'Neil, though Hammond and Teal'C hold my second place. Star Trek TNG has Piccard, who might be the best Trek captain. He mostly stays onboard and commands, he tends to work within the rules while bending them rather than breaking them, he was somehow an insane badass in school with a literal hole in his heart from when he got stabbed through it and he still has several character issues like being entirely unable to handle children.

Then I saw Alucard and he is clearly my favorite from Hellsing. Edit. After checking MAL for some inspiration/refreshers; Spike from Cowboy Bebop and Onizuka from GTO.

It magnifies the protagonist when they defeat powerful foes. And intelligently written characters where the writers put in the time and effort to make it good... oh man is it awesome

Some include Lelouch, Guts, Ayanokoji (COTE), Sakuta (bunny girl), Kaiji, Hachiman (Oregairu), Odokawa, and Kazuma (Konosuba), Thorfinn (Vinland Saga), Tsukimoto (Ping Pong: The Animation) and Okabe (Steins;Gate). Luffy and Law are a close second and third behind Sanji in One Piece. As for live action shows, funnily enough Walt was my favourite, but after watching Better Call Saul, Saul surpassed him as being my favourite, although he was already my number two when watching BB. Also, the main character from the show “Snowfall”, Franklin Saint, is not only my favourite character from the show, but probably my favourite tv show character in general.

2024-11-25 01:36:24 +0000 UTCThe Rose of Versailles. The protagonist was so interesting that most of the other characters seemed to care more about them than the literal French revolution. Lady Oscar is such a great character that even though she wasn't really intended to be the main character of the manga people wrote in and asked for more of the focus to be on her and so by the time the anime was made she was the protagonist.

2024-11-25 01:36:03 +0000 UTCI feel like I'm a mix depending on the show; sometimes, I might lean toward the main character if I relate to them in some way and other times, I will lean toward others not part of the main cast. Fruits Basket as an example I love all the characters, both main and recurring, but having to choose it would be Kyo as my favorite overall character. In Naruto, i think I preferred like Recurring characters like Neiji because i hated him at first but grew to love him

Code Geass stands out to me as one of my favourite anime where the main character is hands down my favourite, although depending on your personal ethics Zero/Lelouch may also be the villain
