Curtis, i think it's clear from this episode that Imu is being positioned to be the secret final boss past Blackbeard and shanks, and i think its pretty fitting that he seems to have some sort of shadow or devil like power, that seems like a nightmare to oppose luffys bright white god like power of freedom and dreams. It's also pretty heavily implied he's immortal, based on how he talks about the events of the ancient kingdom and what ivankov said about an imu being around 800 years ago. Or at least that's what most of us seem to think :) He's probably the most powerful character in the setting in my opinion as well, i mean, sabo was helping cobra but even still casually one shotting sabo is a crazy feet that i doubt most if any other character could do. Shanks doing it to kidd was crazy but im pretty sure sabo is a lot stronger than kid.

@Harry no if I recall correctly this was still implied as Akainu because of his burn marks

Agreed. As an example, Aokiji lost his arm and leg to a movie villain, and this has been changed as of a few episodes back into Akainu taking them in their fight on punk hazard, so I think we need to be careful with these movie/manga/anime inconsistencies.

Also something I noticed was last episode when the Five Elders transformed into the silhouettes they all had a little ring of clouds around them just like Luffy and Lucci do in their awakened Zoan forms. I don't know what their powers are, but I thought that was interesting.

Things are definitely developing very fast. I feel like in One Piece we've been given so many mysteries and questions that at this point just one or two reveals can really shake up our entire understanding of the One Piece world. Imu before was a faceless /nameless character whose identity had been left entirely secret. In just a few episodes/chapters we've been told that Imu is the name of a Celestial Dragon Saint from 800 years ago, they hate the D initial, and they control at least one ancient weapon. To me this now changes the dynamic of the World Government and Celestial Dragons. They seem less like an oppressive government and more like a secret cult using the government as a façade. At least I think so. But this gives me more questions. Do they have a way to live forever or at least beyond 800 years? Was the D clan it's own kingdom? Were they once allied with the Celestial Dragons based on how Imu discusses Lily betraying them? We learn so much but still end up with more questions. Sorry for the wall of text but this kind of lore is why I enjoy One Piece so much. I always wanna know more

Yeah I just checked and it wasn't revealed in any SBS so it's for sure a spoiler.

Guys, please don't tell Curtis about the movie spoiler for this episode. It's not confirmed yet so I think it's better if we hold off until the anime actually states it as confirmed. Thoughts?
