NEW APPLE FEES ON *NEW* PATREON MEMBERSHIPS!

In case any of you have heard about Apple holding Patreon for ransom on Patreon fees, let me give you my understanding of it:

Starting in November, Apple has forced Patreon to collect a 30% fee either from the creator or the member when they use the iOS to sign up for memberships. Why so high? Because Apple is a truly scummy company who enjoys raping people for money on limited to no extra service.

My understanding is that it ONLY APPLIES TO NEW MEMBERSHIPS. You existing members will be fine. And more importantly, if you were to leave an re-sign up or anything, simply use a PC or any means other than the iOS to sign up and you should be fine.

I would guess that, even if you use an iPhone, as long as you sign up for Patreon using the Chrome browser or something, I would think that would circumvent this insanely egregious billing!

I always want to be right upfront with you guys: We have the option of having that 30% deducted from our share of your memberships or having the 30% added to membership costs. I am having it added to the membership costs, BUT NOT only for the reason of protecting my income. If I have it added, there's a good chance people will come to me before joining, asking what the hell is going on. I can then explain to them how to get around the fee by not using iOS. If Apple grabs their 30% from my end, it's likely new users won't even know Apple is grabbing that money.

Of course, there is a significant amount of outrage over this throughout the world, and there are legal types looking into whether or not this fee is even legal.

This is a RIDICULOUS situation, but fortunately, it has an easy work-around. PLEASE feel free to explain this to anyone thinking of joining anyone's Patreon, as I hate to see Apple profit from this!
