The space team had Eve, without her they would've been dead, the ground team had no one from the A list, and that was the result. On a side note, i do find it extremely strange Kate really did just...die. Like if i understand her power correctly, clones can make clones, not just split from an 'original'? Wouldn't you therefore just keep some clones hidden away just in case?
