Initially, the Chimaera was speculated to be quite docile.
She ate little, stayed clear of researchers and her jaw didn't appear to be capable of much.
However as time went by we realized that her venomous barb (located on her head fin) was used for more than defense.
Going theory with the Chimaera is that she is quite a picky eater and simply did not like the food we gave her. Over time, what we thought was her "warming up" to researchers was closer to "sizing up". One promising intern tested her luck with the curious beast, and got closer than recommended. With a suprisingly dextrous turn and flex of the head fin, the barb had left a shallow cut on the girl. Paralysis was followed seconds later, and the beast enveloped her, working its mouth down around her.
It took several minutes for the creature to get the girl down and halfway through the venom had began to wear off, to our surprise the girl was still alive and started to kick out her legs. A retrieval team had been dispatched but then the word came down the wires and the team was recalled...
Because our next research task was going to be digestion metrics...
Chimaera is up for adoption, initial deadline July 1st.
