Down to business!

Wow, the last 24 hours has been absolutely incredible. The outpouring of support has been nuts, and I'm so excited to buckle down and code the heckin heck out of the rest of LegendKeeper. Now that the hype train is calming down, I figured this would be a good time to talk about stuff!

First off, please join the LegendKeeper community on Discord! We are a lively and friendly bunch, and we've got a lot of great world-building and tabletop RPG discussion going on: https://discord.gg/SAqZKBD

What is LegendKeeper?

LegendKeeper is a platform to create and organize world-building content for tabletop RPGs and other works of fiction. It is a work-in-progress, but the core features are very close to done, as you can see in the demo GIFs. In the coming weeks I will be making a demo video to further explain and explore the product.

Who are you, anyway?

I'm a professional software developer based out of Texas. I've been DMing  for a group of my good friends for a couple years now. In my spare time I've been working on LegendKeeper to help make me a better DM, especially when it comes to organizing all the rich details of a world. It started to get so robust that I wanted to share it with everyone!

What exactly *are* the features of LegendKeeper?

I think the most succinct way to put it is a mix of Google Maps and Wikipedia for fictional worlds. You can upload any image (the higher-res, the better), which will be processed into a "Google-style" map that can be assigned to a Place, which is a Wiki-style article describing a location in your world. You can model your world in the form of Beings, Places, Items, and general purpose articles, and hyperlink between all of these things. I encourage you to inspect the GIFs on the front-page if you want an idea of what that looks like.

Does LegendKeeper help me make maps?

No; you'll need to import maps from your favorite tools, such as Photoshop or Inkarnate. That being said, I've got a few features in the pipeline to help with this. ;)

Are there any other features coming?

I've got a whole slew of interesting features coming, but for the alpha I am going to focus on the core features, which are the maps and wiki. Soon after, I will announce some of the stuff I've got brewing.

Will I be locked in to the LegendKeeper platform if I put my content on it?

Absolutely not. Exporting your entire world's encyclopedia to Markdown is an important Day 1 feature to me. Exporting your maps and map pins may be a tough challenge, but your articles will be yours to export from the platform. And even if you don't want to leave LegendKeeper, Markdown should enable you to paste your world articles into Homebrewery, which would be badass.

When will the alpha start?

When it's ready. It won't be terribly long, but I can't make any exact promises now.

I've got so much more coming, but I just wanted to say how grateful I am for your support. Looking forward to making a platform that you can unleash your creativity on.

Thanks,

Braden
