It's not a spoiler, since it was meant to foreshadow some things in future arcs, which seem a bit like asspulls, if they're not addressed here. So 2 major things happened: 1 - someone that's not shown called Grandeeney travels to a lava region to talk to someone. Apparently, that's forbidden. They talk about "a certain child, who is a troublemaker", it's kept unclear, but one can guess who it is. He was "lucky this time". Grandeeney says "the child" will probably meet up with "Wendy" and hopes they become good friends. The other individual, who is revealed to be Igneel (shown in all his glory), tells her to leave and not interfere with humans. Grandeeney supposes that he's right, that they just have to trust in the strength of humankind. Then she mentions Zeref, but drops it immediately. She ends by saying that she looks forward to the day when they can meet at the "Dragon King Festival". 2 - Ultear is taking a bath and talking to someone over a communication crystal. She is reporting about the council being so disrupted that they can't do anything for a while, that they might even disband. Whoever she is talking to commends her and asks about Jellal. Ultear doesn't know, but doubts that he is dead. The voice reveals that she was actually using Jellal, not the other way around. That she used brainwashing magic on him when they were both children in that cell where he was tortured. She acted as Zeref's ghost all this time. The entire plan, apparently, was to disrupt the council to such a degree that they could act with impuny, and "one key to breaking the seal" now belongs to the voice from the crystal. Ultear congratulates him and, finally, laughs and roughly says to no one in particular "Sorry, Jellal-sama. It was impossible to resurrect Zeref from the start, for anybody. After all, how can you resurrect someone who is still alive and merely sleeping..." So that's the biggest reveal, which becomes relevant much later. Oh, and Ultear has a nice guild tattoo on her back, something like a thorny, stylized heart cut in two. Too bad the bathing scene didn't make it in ;)

2023-07-29 13:42:31 +0000 UTC1:37 You can briefly see her crying from both eyes. Also Natsu has now saved two people from sacrificing themselves, first with Gray and now with Erza. Natsu may not be in my top 5 protags, but dood is a damn reliable bro. Gajeel's face turn was quite something. He knew he did terrible things to Levy, Jet, and Droy, as well as Lucy and let them beat him up to satisfy their anger. He even defended Levy from Laxus' *spits* unwarranted attack on her. But this is what I consider the end of act 1: The Council is fractured, their HQ destroyed and The Tower of Heaven is no more. We've also assembled our main cast plus some new additions like Juvia and Gajeel. Jellal's status is currently unknown, but his 11th hour face turn was indeed welcome. We also clearly have a threat in the form of Laxus, who seems intent on taking Fairy Tail over.
