Well Oda has in general big issues at writing female characters properly (with a very few exceptions here and there) since several years by now, especially since the New World, which is kinda weird cause back in the days it was always one of the advantages over Naruto(so Oda kinda devolved in that regard for some reason).

Two, the main reason why they keep so frequently flashing to the citizens is so the episodes can have their runtime extended to the proper length and animation budget can be focused on the actual fight with Big Mom.

2023-07-12 18:45:08 +0000 UTCWe should add that it's just a fan theory that it's based on Mother Caramel, that has not been confirmed lol it makes sense of course due to the origin of the name and she bares some resemblance to her (mostly she just looks like Hera as lightning rather than a cloud), but I wouldn't say that like it's fact. I'm waiting on a possible SBS question that'll most likely confirm it (or not and it'll just be a cool fan theory).

When Momo was thinking about his family they mimic the DBZ segway scenes with Oden being Goku and Momo’s sister being Gohan. So Momo heard “someone call him”, well that’s the Giant Elephant. The Giant Elephant, Zunesha was the island Zou and carried all the minks on its back. For some reason only Luffy and Momo can hear the elephant speak, BUT only Momo can talk to the elephant and give it orders. Zunesha is coming to Wano

2023-07-12 13:15:55 +0000 UTCI loved the sequence of the Big Mom vs Kid and Law fight. Overall I think the anime has been handling all the fights much better than the manga. I can only imagine how Toei ends up the finale of Luffy vs Kaido. A few things I wanted to point out with this episode: - Big Mom’s 3000 Misery attack, the giant lady spirit is somehow Mother Caramel. If you don’t remember during Whole Cake arc we got the Big Mom backstory. In that story Big Mom ate the orphan kids and their Mother. The mother had the soul soul fruit back then, so once Big Mom ate her she got the powers and it seems like Mother Caramel is somehow “reincarnated” with one of the ultimate attacks. - Second, the reason why this episode kept showing the Wano citizens at the festival is for two reasons. As you mentioned to highlight that Momo wants to protect them, but more importantly they’re part of a running joke. The joke is that these people are celebrating, getting drunk, and having a good time. All the while there’s a worldwide battle occurring right above their heads so they’re oblivious to it all and it’s pretty funny not to notice a giant skull island slowly approaching.
