download: mew's under the truck - early access
Added 2023-10-12 00:40:54 +0000 UTCsent out codes for a little bitsy thing i made for bitsy fest! it's about one of my favourite gaming rumours.
it took me really long to manually draw the pixel art into bitsy this time haha.
will release the game once i fix up the page before the 10/16 jam deadline!
(also i'm still figuring out what i want to do with patreon's new collections thing which is separrate from tags somehow - not sure if i'll be switching over to using collections or not since tags mostly fill this purpose... feel free to let me know if you have any feelings yea or nay re: tags & collections!)

It's certainly true that Halo's easter eggs are bizarre. You can't make this stuff up: https://www.halopedia.org/.ass and https://www.polygon.com/2015/4/14/8382089/bungie-butt-microsoft-halo > The ".ass error" was a glitch in the Halo 2 development software caused by an artist attempting to import non-uniformly scaled map geometry. The error message came attached with an image of one of Bungie's Lead Engineers; Charlie "Chucky" Gough, with an uncovered backside. > The photo was taken during a visit to Bungie's office by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer; during the visit, Gough "mooned" an unaware Ballmer with a camera set up The infamous ".ass" error cost Microsoft $500K and got some Microsoft employees fired, apparently...

2023-10-13 01:24:16 +0000 UTCYou can play Save the Date for free on Windows/macOS/Linux here: http://paperdino.com/save-the-date/ It's about an hour long. The first time I played it was over ten years ago and it still lives on in some part of my mind. It probably won't be until your play session is over that you get why I was reminded of it though, haha. I was actually a bit confused as to whether bitsy even offered a local version, haha. I was looking at the Github repository and it doesn't tell you much: https://github.com/le-doux/bitsy Bitsybox is cool! I was kind of expecting the desktop version to be huge, but the executable isn't even 1MB and it starts up instantly. And you can fullscreen it :) Since collections and tags are on the same page now, I think they're about as easy to access as each other. You can have a featured image for each collection compared to tags, you can have one collection made up of posts from multiple tags, and you can specify the order of posts within the collection if you like. So they look a little nicer and can be a little more organized. I think your posts are all date-ordered anyway, though, haha, so I don't know if they offer any value to you.

2023-10-13 01:08:07 +0000 UTCIn fairness to folks coming up with wild theories on certain things being in Halo games, the actual easter eggs in those games CAN BE WILD WITH REALLY WEIRD EXECUTION (like, say, the IWHBYD skull in H3). So is it really so unbelievable that there'd be a golden warthog at the top of a building in Halo 2's city map..... Surely not!!!!

2023-10-13 00:29:25 +0000 UTCI definitely knew this fact before but completely forgot about it, pff. Gomen for my scatterbrain.... Good to be reminded though!!!

2023-10-13 00:22:01 +0000 UTCi think the mew rumour was very widespread but also localised - for example my partner who lived in japan at the time had never heard about it before playing my game either! instead the rumour was about how you could fish up mew (this was actually true though hahaha) i have never heard of save the date but having you mention it here makes me incredible curious about it! you know, i have no idea if you can actually fullscreen the bitsy player in bitsy... i think i've usually just played the html version on itch (full screening it if the button is available) and used the bitsy site for editing the files! there is, however, a separate bitsy player made by the bitsy dev called bitsybox (https://ledoux.itch.io/bitsybox) which is a bitsy emulator that lets you emulate .bitsy files. (i think the draw of collections is that they are now more easily accessible than tags, which are now harder to access... but that makes me wonder why we needed collections in the first place.......................)

2023-10-12 23:44:02 +0000 UTCoh that is good to know! thank you.

2023-10-12 23:39:37 +0000 UTC> Also, with regards to collections, tags are now A LITTLE HARDER TO TRACK thanks to Patreon's advancements in technology such as: no longer having a list of tags at the top of a creator's feed to select from, and instead forcing you to find a post with said tag to find other posts with said tag I think you can actually get a full list of tags on the Collections page: https://www.patreon.com/npckc/collections

2023-10-12 11:48:05 +0000 UTCThanks! The only Nintendo games I've ever been into were Pokemon, although game rumours were mainly before my time, I guess. I've had access to the internet since I was a kid. I'd never heard of the Mew rumour before now :) I enjoyed the game nonetheless and agree with the point that, with the web at your fingertips, it's a lot harder for game rumours to persist. I do remember some rumours about Halo 3 when I was younger that I really did believe (in actual fact, total lies). I couldn't tell you what they were now, but there were a few. This game actually reminds me of Save the Date by Paperdino Software (I won't say how, since the point of that game is to go in blind). To play this game, I just imported the game data over at make.bitsy.org. I couldn't figure out a way to fullscreen it though! RE: tags/collections; I don't know anything about collections, so I couldn't say one way or the other. Does it even offer anything new compared to tags?

2023-10-12 11:46:30 +0000 UTCOOOOH. Gosh I freaking love that so much. Never played Shadow of the Colossus, but I know all about how fricking huge it is for no apparent reason, and...... pff, those theory-crafters were having a ton of fun, weren't they. AND THEN BLUEPOINT.......... I love that, with both the SotC and Demon's Souls remakes, Bluepoint just put really weird, scavenger hunt-y secrets for fans to scour through the game and find, pff. Excellent. Now that I think about it, I guess all this sorta reminds me of, like... theorycrafting with Undertale and Deltarune?? Where folks are coming up with connections to a lot a lot a lot of things that have no cathartic, satisfying answers to them (AKA no answers at all). I know I have AT LEAST ONE RANDOM THEORY for Deltarune kicking in my head, but even if it were proven to be true, just like... it's nothing, pff. It'd just be neat to be like "oooh I was right :3c" Making wild speculations about games is really fun, that's all, and it's nice when games/communities nudge fans just enough to make 'em start speculating like that.

2023-10-12 08:05:13 +0000 UTCIf nothing else, at least small indie games will forever remain enigmas in a sense..... Been playing a few indie puzzle games lately and getting to parts where I'm just like "wait I'm lost what the heck do I do help" for pretty long stretches, and of course there's not gonna be any help outside of directly asking the dev, pff. BUT THEN THEY'D KNOW I'M A CHUMP WHO CAN'T SOLVE PUZZLES, SO....... just gotta persevere............ (*Asking for help with a puzzle doesn't make you a chump. This is factually inaccurate.) I suppose small indie stuff probably won't have fun, weird, obscure secrets, though..... Like, say, if everybody's favorite EasyGameStation game Chantelise didn't have guides all over the place for its secrets, I think discovering all of them on your own (or even with the ingame hints) would be extremely cool. BUT SOMETIMES YOU GET TO A STAGE AND YOU'RE LIKE "WHAT THE HECK IS THE SECRET HERE" and you inevitably look it up....... (I'm sure this isn't too obscure a reference. But if it is, uh, hi.)

2023-10-12 07:40:32 +0000 UTC'oooh' is definitely the reaction i wanted so i'm happy! i just really like gaming rumours... honestly money rocks in animal crossing seems like something that could be made up but it's true, so why can't we have weirder things than that? if you haven't watched it i also would recommend this video about fans' ideas about shadow of the colossus (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQNeYbBiCKw) (i will see if i want to swap my tags over to collections in the future for easier access!)

2023-10-12 07:26:44 +0000 UTCi think if i set it in collections it might be easier to find, but i also find myself hesitant to switch over immediately in case patreon suddenly decides to change it again haha. on one hand it is much more convenient gaming now because i can quickly figure out something if i'm stuck, but it's kind of nice also to be stuck and just have to figure out something myself! but with pandora's box right there it can be tempting to search for answers 👀

2023-10-12 07:23:00 +0000 UTCthanks for the code delivery! love this topic of game rumors! although i've never had similar beliefs(or i have maybe...?). playing a game without any previous information is always an unbelievable experience, but even that is impossible for me now. not to mention having a searching-free gaming experience. i only know rumors from tales. the game rumors truly disappeared... tags are a little harder to navigate now, but i guess it's okay to still use tagging...?

2023-10-12 07:09:49 +0000 UTCThe rumor that allegedly pushed Pokemon from "Successful for a game on a nearly 10 year old console" to "Oh my god it's the most successful thing in existence", pff. THIS IS A CUTE LIL BITSY GAME FOR SURE. I can see why drawing stuff for this might've taken a while, aaaaaa. WENT LIKE "OOOOOH" WHEN I SAW IT. Very good. Excellent. I guess I grew up in a really weird time with rumors and all, 'cause by the time I started playing games and sharing with folks, rumors, like...... were kind of not a thing??? But that was in 2003-2004 pff (I mean I was playing games before that period but never talked about 'em with folks.) By then, Pokemon legitimately had a whole weird rumor-like "if you do this absurd set of actions, you can find hidden legendary Pokemon" with the Regis in Gen III, as well as the absurdity of something like Mirage Island.......... (Also extremely fond of the fact that, in FR/LG, they slightly nodded to the whole rumor by putting a hidden, inaccessible Lava Cookie in the map with the Truck....... Extremely vague nod, but a definite nod nonetheless, pff.) I do find it really fun looking at what folks were rumoring about back in the day though, if nothing else. Literally didn't know about Mew Under The Truck and such until like. 2012??? And stuff like L is Real and all of that. If there's one game besides Pokemon RSE that had weird, obscure interactions that'd feel like strange rumors though I'd say it has to be Animal Crossing. Stuff like Money Rocks, Wisp, Money Trees, Golden Tools, annoying Tom Nook into selling to you late at night if you're noisy as heck, the GYROID FACE......... It's a funky game with a lot of obscure things, pff. (Also, with regards to collections, tags are now A LITTLE HARDER TO TRACK thanks to Patreon's advancements in technology such as: no longer having a list of tags at the top of a creator's feed to select from, and instead forcing you to find a post with said tag to find other posts with said tag, so. Collections would fulfill the previous function of tags, basically? I guess??? In this scenario, anyway.)
