IMPORTANT PATREON QUESTION!!! please read
Added 2022-10-01 00:07:44 +0000 UTCapparently patreon has the option to pay on the day you start supporting now instead of the first of every month.
currently i'm not planning to change since i think it makes more sense for me - if you sign up at any time in the month, you will get the postcard for that month as well as the game for that month if i'm releasing anything - but would you personally prefer to pay on the day you first joined this patreon?
currently, if you join at any point in the month, you will pay then, and then you will pay again on the first of the next month.
current:
- join patreon on september 16, pay for september on the 16th
- pay again on october 1 for october, november 1 for november, &c.
the new option would have people always paying on the same day.
new:
- join patreon on september 16, pay for september on the 16th
- pay again on october 16 for october, november 16 for november, &c.
as a note, even if i do change this, the billing time should not change for you! it would only apply to any new patrons. but i want to know your thoughts! (you might also be able to change it on your end, but i'm not sure because this is a new thing & i don't think that many creators have switched over yet?)
so the question:
would you prefer to pay
- on the 1st of the month (the current situation)
- or on the day join the patreon every month (the new option)?

2022-10-01 02:44:40 +0000 UTCAll of my ongoing monthly Patreon payments being billed out on the same day makes it easier for me to keep track of my spending, so I don't really see the point. I guess Patreon thought some people might feel cheated out of the first month, because it wouldn't be a full month between payments. If having the option would make some people more likely to support, then go for it. All I can say is I wouldn't've been one of them. (If I were to ask Patreon for more options, it'd've been beginning/end of month rather than beginning/whatever-day-of-month-you-signed-up, but that's out of our hands.)

2022-10-01 02:17:50 +0000 UTCfor me personally it doesn't matter! i have patreon set up to pay out at the beginning of the month so either way it would be the same. i am more thinking about qhat would be easier for everyone supporting me. aaaand now that you mention it kind of -is- the same either way regarding the game and postcard isn't it o: so i guess that isn't an issue!

But additionally I dunno that changing it to same-day charges is all that different? Like, with the postcard specifically, it's virtually unchanged either way. You pay for that month, you get it for that month, and then you pay again later for the next month etc etc. But that's only taking the postcard into account. But!!! Yeah I guess either way honestly has the same result pff. Unless I'm missing something. Which would make the pay-same-day option more patron friendly. Only part that makes me a little worried is that payments would be spread a bit throughout the month for ya instead of the full payment at the start of each month, though I dunno how much something like that really affects
