L-carnatine is a popular supplement with some well documented benefits for endurance activities. carnitine helps transport fatty acids into the mitochondria, where they can be burned for energy. Endurance activity puts significant metabolic demands on the heart, leading to the depletion of out nucleotide pool, primarily ATP. During prolonged endurance activities, the heart works harder to pump blood and deliver oxygen and nutrients to muscles. This increased workload requires a substantial amount of ATP. While the body does has mechanisms to resynthesize ATP, the rate of ATP usage during intense endurance exercise can outpace the rate of ATP production, especially in the heart. Some of the breakdown products, such as adenosine, can be lost from the cells, leading to a further depletion of the nucleotide pool. This loss is particularly critical because it affects the cell's ability to quickly regenerate ATP. D-ribose pentose sugar that is a bi component of nucleotide structure. It plays a crucial role in the synthesis of nucleotides including ATP. By providing the ribose sugar, D-ribose facilitates the production and replenishment of ATP. The GI tract may serve as a gas exchange surface, allowing for the diffusion of oxygen readily into the bloodstream. This is particularly relevant for athletes during intense exercise when oxygen demand is acutely heightened. The bubbles in the beverage are often coated with lecithin, which may act as an oxygen carrier. This facilitates the delivery of a greater quantity of oxygen than what is initially encapsulated within the bubbles.
