i'm back from my trip :) and ready to color! This is how i do it:
1. I draw with pencil on 11 x 17 paper and scan it in. I included the original unaltered scan
2. I clean it up, edit out overlapping lines/mistakes, and turn up the contrast to get the stark black line. Then I block in colors, not paying attention to what exact color things should be but what things should be different colors
3. I go through and tone the pic to get consistent colors throughout and try to create the mood/vibe I want. I sometimes use the curves tool to help with this but do most of it manually/by just eyeballing it, because I don't want it to look like I just slapped a filter on it. Then I added on a png of the characters and adjust their colors accordingly.
4. I colored in the frames animation with the new colors
