This Shikigami no Shiro II interview originally appeared in the Official Setting Materials book published by Famitsu in 2003. It largely focuses on the new characters Roger Sasuke and Niigi G.B., while also taking a close look at the boss and stage design. The Shikigami series is (in)famous in the West for a butchered "localization" (Mobile Light Force 2), and while this interview does not go into that saga, it does help explain the series' broad appeal in Japan.

Looks like I spoke too soon about getting back to those regular updates--we'll have a couple more interviews (including more shmups) to share over the next week though!

This is so awesome! Thanks for translating this. It's interesting to see that alfa system devs considered the game a little easy and were aware of some of the cheese strats (like sitting in front of the boss and shooting it to death, ha). I also feel a little called out when they described my character of choice, Niigi, as the one for people "who aren't good at dodging." D^x Her scoring routes are quite tough though, I've referred to the superplay they mentioned here many times. The characters and world are a big reason I'm a fan of the series, so I can imagine others feel the same way. Maybe one day those manga will be fan translated (a man can dream...). This was a lot of fun to read; as was the densha interview! Can't wait to see what else is published.
