June/July/August voting!
Added 2020-06-09 23:30:37 +0000 UTCGreetings to all patrons new and old. It's time again to offer suggestions and feedback re: what you'd like to see translated in the next few months. I'll still be referring to the previous voting posts, but it's never a bad idea to post again what you'd like to see translated. Also, if multiple people suggest the same interview, it's more likely to get translated, so feel free to second other people's suggestions. And as always, don't hesitate to ask questions about the interviews if you're curious about their content/length etc.
To vote, please take a look at the list here: http://shmuplations.com/patreonlist/ and leave a comment on this post letting me know what you'd like me to translate.
Hi again everyone! I had hoped to have that new batch of early 2000s magazine interviews archived from the Diet Library by now, but the COVID lockdown has delayed that. As the infection (hopefully) continues to slow here in Tokyo, I should be able to return to that work in the coming weeks and months. In the meantime, I'll continue focusing on your patron requests, with a special focus on series/genres/developers that we haven't yet covered at shmuplations!

hey Michael--bit late getting back to you, but I did take a good look (through my archive and online), and sadly I haven't seen much about Adventure Island. There's various interviews with Takahashi Meijin, but he readily admits that he didn't have a lot to do with those developments. It's an old favorite of mine too (my younger brother was especially fond of the first 3), so I'll be keeping my eyes open...

2020-08-06 03:44:11 +0000 UTCI didn't see any on the list, but have you seen any Adventure Island/Bouken Jima interviews around? Thinking about those games recently, I realized that outside of the Wonderboy connection I don't really know anything about their development. They seem to have been really popular (they certainly made a lot of them) so it seems like there must have been some interviews on them but I've never seen one and looking around now (not just at Shmuplations) I'm not seeing much either. Maybe there just isn't that much to tell about them but I would think there'd at least be a fluffy promo-type piece in the untranslated interview list! :)

2020-06-28 05:30:38 +0000 UTCThanks. And you know, I wanted to do 'Hideo Kojima - 1999 Developer Interview', but 5 is my limit to choose (to make it fair). However, if this interview does not get picked this summer, then I'll add it to my list to choose for autumn.
