Weekly Update from Zoe Brown (And an Election Plea!)11/4/22

Hey everyone, hope you had a nice week!

Been working on Part 8 of Doppelganger for most of this week. Almost done, probably out Monday or Tuesday next week. Bit slower than usual because I'm sooooo stressed out rn about the upcoming US Midterm Elections. Right now the only things keeping me sane are old Star Wars 'Legends' novels and watching the Great British Baking Show with my partner. 

Thank you to everyone who has donated to help me through the financial crunch that I've been experiencing this last month or so! Through your generosity I should be able to get through the end of the year without much difficulty! <3 you all! You guys rock! I am SOOO grateful!

In other news, to my surprise and mild disappointment, it does not seem like Trick-or-Treat (Part One) is selling very well. Possibly Halloween-themed TG books do not do very well? Bummer :( I was really proud of that transformation sequence lol.

I'll be taking Saturday and Sunday off this weekend to phonebank (Get-out-the-Vote Efforts) for the Democratic party ahead of the elections on Nov 8th. I've got shifts scheduled tonight, Sunday, and Monday nights. I'll be back to work again on Monday morning, though if things go really badly Tuesday night I may drink myself into a coma all day on Wednesday lol. 

MY ELECTION PITCH: It's not an understatement to say that if the national mood in the US continues to turn against transgender people and bodily autonomy here (transition rights, abortion rights, contraception access--the freedom to write and publish TG Fiction stories that far-right-people consider indecent) continues to erode that my partner and I may have to consider fleeing to another, safer country where our rights will be protected (if we even can--we both have health problems.) Other writers in the TG community have begun receiving virulent hate mail over their stories within recent weeks. I can't imagine that a country that slips too much further towards the far-right (by electing a bunch of Republicans to office on Tuesday, for example) will tolerate people like me being allowed to write and publish sexy stories about gender transformation for too much longer, so if you live in the US and you want to keep reading stories from writers like me, please turn out to vote on Tuesday--and bring everyone you know along with you.
