This is a test more or less to see how different image resolutions are viewed.

My latest images got a bit bigger than usual and I need feedback what would be a good method to provide you the best service here at Patreon. I assume that a few Patrons use their mobile phone to view my images and image sizes of more than 10MB are maybe a bit slow on those devices when you're not in WiFi mode.

I need feedback what your prefered images size is and if you appreciate to have bigger image sizes at times. I personally love to be able to zoom into an image to see details, I always view images at their real size, but that's only me. The impression can be really different from the overall look to the close details. Like in these images above, you can't really see who the Centaur character is unless you zoom in. You'll see that it is my new Rod character that will come out soon at DAZ3D.

First image in preview size 700 px x 1300 px, 2nd image half size 2100 px x 3900 px, 3rd image full size 3500 px x 6500 px.

I also should explain that the images above are a test, I will not be able to provide these sizes everytime, it always depends on the scene how long a render takes.

In addition I can only watch the images in real size AFTER I opened them in a new window and downloaded them btw, not sure how it works for the Patrons, cause I'm not one. ;)

So comment or message me and let me know your opinions. Please.

Thank you for your feedback, Richard, very much appreciated.

I've definitely preferred the higher-resolution images you've presented recently. 1000 x 1300 just doesn't hit the spot for me, sorry. As the previous poster says, one can't appreciate all the fine details. 4000 x 5200 may be *slightly* larger than necessary, though :P

Thank you, I really appreciate your feedback.

I watch the images sometimes on my phone but mostly on my desktop. Then I download them to get the full size and highest resolution. To enjoy the details. And the quality of the details in your images are an important defining factor. I can understand using lower resolutions because of render times. Bit I love it when you add some images from time to time in high resolution 😊

Thank you for the great feedback. It would be so much easier if I would know how my images are viewed and if Patrons are even able to watch bigger image sizes. All I know is that "I" have to download them to be able to watch them in real size. So when you say that up to 1000 px wideness is enough, I will consider that.

I used to do images at 2000px along the longest side but the render times for complex sets with multiple characters were getting to the point where it limited what I could give the patrons. I experimented with some at laptop resolution, ie around 1000 px width and most patrons couldn't tell the difference. So, these days that's what I do. No complaints. Even so, with a complex set and lighting plus three or more developed characters the render times can be 4-5 hours to get to 95%. I often stop when I think the resolution is acceptable which can be after 2h. My PC is quite powerful; GTX 1070, 32GB RAM etc. Unless the patrons request. I will stick with the lower resolution because it enables me to do so much more.
