Lets talk about the accident in Seneca

6th of 8 Posts for August: Ordered a bunch of stuff for my project.  Working every morning alongside my website team until it's ready to soft launch to you guys.  I'm almost at 200k subscribers and my Instagram gained 50% in the last 30 days... all while my Doug Robinson film totally BOMBED if views is the metric.  Those who did see it are pretty stoked and that is what matters.  Also the comments are all positive which makes it easier to get more interviews with more OGs.

TODAY'S VIDEO: Daniel Gerhart had a fatal accident when his rope suddenly broke during a semi-planned whipper. A bunch of people sent me the MOUNTAIN PROJECT discussion of what happened, asking if I can recreate it.  Accidents like this cause a lot of gear fear, and rightfully so, and in the video posted today (see below), I break down how it could be the pinching PLUS the cutting of the rope PLUS the potential FF2 freak accident combo that made this unlikely event happen.  I have no idea how to recreate something like it and maybe we can get some ideas in the video's comments.  Climbing is inherently dangerous but most of us are passionate enough for it to take the risk.  It is sad though when we lose someone.  My condolences to Daniel's friends and family.

I think it’d be useful to see how a rope could get pinched with the carabiner on a slab in a fall or even a slow pull. Less important to fully recreate the accident. It’s obvious that whatever the situation the rope broke. Seems likely from the report the pinching/inability for rope to slide either cut or overloaded the rope. Being able to recognize and avoid situations where the rope would get pinched seems important. Thanks for The thoughtful video.
