4th of 8 Posts for August: The super secret project is coming along. You guys will definitely know all about it probably a month before everyone else. I want it to be really nice when I go public with it.
15,000 subscribers in 7 days??? Youtube is a dangerous drug. It's too easy to get caught up in the numbers. So much so I actually removed the app that tells me about the analytics a while back, so I can't compulsively check on it. Bobby told me this was happening. This is a screen shot of subscribers on youtube over the last 7 years and you can see the big upticks followed by what feels flat if you look at it everyday. Notice the very edge it's going straight up. I'll normally get about 3,000 new subscribers A MONTH but this is the biggest uptick I've ever had.
I'm really happy with how the bolting and personal anchor videos turned out in the last month and the comments are very positive, but the almighty algorithm decides your fate and it decided not to show it to as many people. I WISH I knew which videos would go viral so I could put extra care into those but I don't. Last week's random short KNOT VIDEO went viral on both Instagram and Youtube and I've never had it happen on both before. I'll gratefully take the bump, but it doesn't determine the value of the videos to some people if it "only" gets 30,000 views.
I really respect anyone in the social media game for longer than 2 years because it's an emotional roller coaster of high dopamine and "watching paint dry" slow growth. You have to be so passionate about whatever your core motivation was to start that you are unwavered by a bipolar algorithm. When I lose the random steam of this viral bump, I still plan on going strong towards breaking gear fear.
SHORT 1: I tested some weird cams and they broke super good enough at 7kn and 9kn. https://youtube.com/shorts/gGvnb3cN0ko
SHORT 2: I tried to see if I can NOT resling cams by girth hitching a sling to the thumb loop. https://youtube.com/shorts/a27kedgnYIs
