It's funny how The Dark Knight and The Batman are basically retellings of The Long Halloween, with a little Batman Year One and Hush thrown into the mix. I've noticed they do this in a lot of adaptations, where they decide to change an ending that 95% of people don't know, but because 5% of people read the comics do know, and now because they wanted to give that 5% something new, nobody gets what was probably the better ending. That said, as someone who was totally unfamiliar with the comic, Hush didn't bother me all that much. Buuuuut now I understand WHY it is one of the lower rated DC animated movies on Letterboxd.

It might be ok if you aren't familiar with the comics and go into it not knowing who Hush is in the comics, but the movie ruins it by changing his identity. Basically it's like if you've seen The Usual Suspects and then a new version comes out and suddenly the ending is different and someone else is Kaiser Souse.

2022-03-04 14:40:38 +0000 UTCSince you're looking at doing a lot of animation, let me suggest "The Triplets of Belleville" (2003). It is a very funny and thoroughly delightful film, quite unlike anything you'll get from Disney or Japan. A winner of several international awards, it was nominated for the Best Animation Oscar, though it lost to "Finding Nemo." Here's a trailer. https://youtu.be/dvAbrztY1-U
