A bit late to the party here, but I'd like to mention some things:
You were upset about the Gecko scene with his arm and asked, how someone would come up with this. - It may be not as far-fetched as it may seem at first. Do you know the Spider-Man villain Lizard (Dr. Curtis "Curt" Connors)? The Dr. worked in a field of research, that could help regrow his missing arm. When transformed into the Lizard, he CAN regrow lost limbs. - From Lizard in Spider-Man to Gecko in The Boys.
Since The Church of the Collective is an obvious dig at a certain cult, which recruited some celebrities of note, I wonder if the whole Fresca thing alludes to the phrase "drinking the Kool-Aid". The phrase means to demonstrate unquestioning obedience, belief or loyalty referring to the Jim Jones thing in 1978.
And while it sure is funny to see The Deep getting ensnared by the cult, because it's a satire, it's also very disturbing, how those cult persons prey on vulnerable people and keep them away from actual help e. g. by denouncing therapy.

I still canโt believe they killed Raynor ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ

Raynor was uncovering something at Vought much more dangerous to someone than their Compound V secret. Hughie lies again to Annie so she won't end up like Raynor. You're right though. Not good.
Kazzy famous words : "Can this show get any worse than last season ?"... 31 mins later : "Omg, this is sick !! " Glad you like it.

"It's disgusting!" (laughs)
I LITERALLY had Raynor's demise in the back of my head for almost the entire watch-along for season one. It startled the bejeezus outta me when I first saw it.
You're right about the writers. This is an incredible social satire in the truest form. There's precedent in the writings of Jonathan Swiftโ"A Modest Proposal" in particular in its casual depiction of the darkest of concepts. And I think the humor and sheer absurdity are what allows it to get away with some pretty disgusting stuff. The original comic is from the same fellow who created Preacher for AMC, which was equally as wrong, but this is SO much more laser-focused.
BTW, Fresca is a third-rate soda for a third-rate supe. They spare not one chance to take a dig at The Deep.
