Chapter 62: Foolish Dark Wizards

Tearing his greedy eyes away from the items, Borgin looked at Erwin with a smile spreading across his face.

This batch of items was enough for him to make a substantial profit, and even the smile on his face became genuinely sincere.

"Fire dragon hearts. I want five, no preference on the species."

Erwin's words carried no emotion, as if buying dragon hearts was as simple as purchasing a steak.

"What?"

"The hearts of five fire dragons?"

Borgin was momentarily shocked into silence. This black-robed wizard really dared to make such a demand.

Fire dragons were not common in Europe, and most of them hadn't been domesticated by dragon farms.

Even if one managed to locate a fire dragon, it wasn't something three or five wizards could handle.

It took at least ten elite adult wizards to safely kill a fire dragon.

"Sir, are you certain you want five dragon hearts?"

"Yes, I'm certain. The money from these items serves as the deposit. Mr. Borgin, is there a problem?"

Erwin asked in return.

"No, no problem at all."

A wide smile appeared on Borgin's face as he calculated another significant profit.

He respectfully escorted Erwin out of the store. As he watched Erwin's retreating figure, the smile on Borgin's face slowly faded.

'I hope you survive this ordeal,' he thought.

The old fox Borgin had sent Erwin out with such an obvious display of respect that the dark wizards secretly observing the shop had taken notice.

If Erwin succeeded in surviving whatever came next, then in future dealings, Borgin wouldn't dare play any tricks.

But if Erwin never showed up again, he would have earned this batch of magical items for nothing.

Erwin walked along the dilapidated road of Knockturn Alley, where most of the stone bricks were cracked and damaged.

Suddenly, he paused.

Through his perception, he detected several dark wizards who had gathered together and were slowly following behind him.

The corner of his mouth twitched slightly as Erwin turned into a deserted alley.

The dark wizards exchanged glances, grim smiles spreading across their faces, before following him in.

A man with a scar running down his face drew his wand and pointed it at Erwin, who stood motionless in the corner.

The scarred wizard spoke up.

"Boy, we just saw old Borgin escort you out with a stupid smile on his face. Hand over whatever you've got, and we might spare your life."

Scarface said this, but sparing Erwin's life was never actually an option.

A wizard's body made excellent testing material.

Erwin reached out and pulled a bag of gold Galleons from his pocket, weighing it casually in his hand.

"Do you want this?"

The eyes of several wizards immediately turned red with greed.

That jingling sound was unmistakably Galleons, and quite a few of them. They were all eager, ready to strike at any moment.

Seeing their reaction, Erwin crooked his finger at them.

"If you want it, come and get it yourself."

The wizards looked at each other, unable to contain their greed any longer. Curses flew toward Erwin one after another.

Boom

A minute later, Erwin curled his lips in disdain as he looked at the figures sprawled on the ground.

At this level, they still dared to call themselves dark wizards?

Their [Avada Kedavra] wasn't even qualified to give him a nosebleed.

He stretched out his foot and kicked Scarface.

"Don't play dead. Get up. I have questions for you."

Scarface realized Erwin had seen through his act and couldn't keep up the pretense.

He stood up with a hopeless expression and spoke to Erwin.

"Sir, we attacked the wrong person, clearly. You’ve already beaten us up. Can you be the bigger wizard and let us go?"

Erwin's eyes glowed with an eerie green light.

Suddenly, Scarface collapsed to the ground in agony, writhing in pain.

"I ask. You answer."

Erwin spoke with cold indifference.

Scarface didn't dare say anything else and nodded repeatedly.

"Are you the leader of this group?"

"No."

"Then who is your boss?"

"This..."

Erwin saw the hesitation on Scarface's features and cast another [Cruciatus Curse] that made the man scream for mercy.

After a full five seconds, Erwin stopped casting.

"It's Arya! Our leader is Arya, and she's the head of one of the three major forces in Knockturn Alley."

Scarface quickly spilled all the information he knew, terrified that Erwin would start casting again at the slightest provocation.

Erwin felt a surge of satisfaction.

He hadn't expected to find a leader of a major power so smoothly.

This was precisely why he had come to Knockturn Alley; he planned to take control of a force to help him collect materials and information.

"Take me to see her."

Erwin gave his command.

Scarface didn't dare resist and walked ahead to lead the way.

Soon, they arrived at an old-fashioned manor on the outskirts of Knockturn Alley.
