Why is InflateVids so slow?

For starters: Hello many new patrons! Even though I did expect a couple people more to contribute to the Patreon campaign, I didn't expect this amount of support. We aren't quite there covering the bills yet, but you are definitely making a difference! Make sure to link your Patreon account to InflateVids at https://tube.inflatevids.xyz/settings/general. You gain access to all video qualities, and it will remove the Patreon banner when you are logged in (sorry it took me a little while to fix that @ older patrons).

InflateVids has, as you might have noticed, been a little slow the past week, with a couple minutes of down time on Wednesday whilst I had to reboot the web server. This is definitely to do with the big increase in interest in the website.

For context: in December 2021 IV had 23k unique visitors. Last month this number nearly reached 30k unique visitors. Where December 2021 had 21TB of bandwidth used, April had 31TB of bandwidth used.

In the short term this current performance is sadly how it will stay, but I am already working on preparations to use multiple servers to handle this impressive amount of traffic IV has to deal with now.

These preparations require me to rewrite all of the custom features of the website, which will require some time. In good news, this is also where the new design will come online as shown in an earlier Patreon post.
