VIDEO : Lion Tamer - Concept DEEP-DIVE

Hello lovely people,

Look at me holding it barely together and uploading the monthly video halfway through the month instead of last minute. Whoop!

This concept exploration is based on one of my 2018 Inktober drawings :

I always loved the base of this idea but didn't have much time to explore it back then. It has been up on my idea wall since (I've plastered one of my studio walls with thumbnail images of the sketches I want to dive into again), and I suddenly felt really excited about spending a session on it.

So here we are.

The concept changed drastically, and I talk all about it in the video, but as always, if you have any questions at all, let me know!

Enjoy, and thank you for being here <3

Oh that is just so encouraging to read, thank you so much Crystal!

Thank you so much for this video; the deep dive videos are one of my favorite things you do, and it's honestly an amazing pick me up every time. I love your art, and this concept is so wonderful and stunning I can't wait to see where you take it 🥰🥰

That's exciting! And I'm super happy to support you, as always! Partly because I always work very fast and I prefer exploring and experimenting much more. Probably because I have a hard time focussing for a long time, I get impatient and bored quite quickly. I do have ideas, but I also feel limited in my skills. On top of that I'm afraid I'll copy too much of other people's work if I would do finished pieces, because I'm often super inspired and also influenced by others. My sketchbooks are a safe space where I can study other people's work without having the feeling I'm copying them. I guess I'm just still hesitantly trying to figure out my handwriting/style in my art. I know everything I do is me, because I am the one who drew that page or painted that painting, but still... It doesn't feel enough 'me'.

Thank you Jeske! It is so encouraging and energising to receive such wonderful feedback, I appreciate you taking the time to comment and be so supportive enormously. I absolutely love painting animals and I don't do it often enough so there's a high chance I'll paint this. You guys will get all the updates of course. How come you don't work on finished pieces anymore?

I love this concept! If it ever turns into a finished illustration, chances are very high I'll buy a print of it. Tigers have been my favourite aninals for AGES and whenever I see anything tiger-related, my heart goes "!!!". Besides that, I really enjoy these in-depth process videos! It's interesting to hear you talk about your thought and sketching process, while watching a piece evolve. It also makes me miss working on finished pieces.
