NEW SKETCH - Look At Me

Hi peeps,

Do you remember this sketch ?

I always liked it, but something felt...stiff...about it.

The proportions were also off on the right-hand character, and the angle of the face for the character on the left felt weird.

So I revisited it recently, and here's what it became :

Here's a little side-by-side :

Look at me giving my characters hair. And clothes. Sort of....XD

I used Prismacolor pencils for the background, to experiment with a medium I am not very familiar with (coloured pencils). I LOVE their buttery texture.

There is something about those 2...I almost want to make them into OCs...

I don't have OCs but I find myself more and more drawn to narratives and storylines, and since I have thought about creating comics quite a few times, maybe having OCs would be a good way to dip my toes into that world?

What do you think?

This sketch will be the print for March!

I need to tinker with the red to get it looking more like the original but here are the test run prints.

They don't include the orange border as it was too uneven and didn't look all that good in print form.

That's all for me for this post, but I hope you are all doing well!

Take care,

M

Love how you explored this composition further! I was to ask what kind of pencils you used for the background, but I see you've written that in the text already. I've wanted to try prismacolors for a while, but they aren't very accessible here in the Netherlands. Lucky for me (or not) I found a shop that sells them for a pretty fair price just a few days ago. Now I see them EVERYWHERE. Guess that's a sign for me, hahaha. I think OCs could be a great addition to your art! I can see your more drawn narratives and storylines, consideren how you break down your pieces in the process posts and videos. It just makes sense!
