We are all moved in!

Hello dears,

I am finally getting to a settled state in our house moving endeavour and my studio is almost fit to purpose again!

The floorplans for our new home were wrong and made me think my new space would be bigger than my old one, so I was somewhat disgruntled to discover it is actually quite a bit smaller. However, the shape of the room and the amount of light it gets make it ultimately a much nicer environment to work in than my old studio, so all is well.

I still need to hang a few things on the walls, and I want to get a pegboard, as well as figure out a way to create a packaging station, but other than that, I am nearing completion with the set-up.

I am genuinely very excited to start making art here.

I was initially thinking of removing the dotted wallpaper from this wall, but I actually quite like it in the end...What do you think?

I also initially disliked the carpet on the floor, but it makes the room a lot warmer and helps with muffling sound when recording videos, so I decided to keep it as is for now.

Overall, our new flat is wonderful.

We are no longer right next a very busy road, so it is much quieter and peaceful.
We also have double glazing, and windows that open and close properly, which feels like the ultimate luxury after 4 years of living in a flat with rotting window frames and broken handles!

One of the most fabulous features of this new place is the view, which I quite honestly can't get enough of.
It makes for amazing sunsets in the evening, and sun all day round in the living room.

Our living room features a little window bench which I am thoroughly enjoying each morning while drinking my coffee and drawing my daily doodles.

I attached the bird feeder to that window, and although we have not had any new visitors as of yet, I am hopeful as I see a lot of life flying around in the nearby trees.

I didn't realise quite how much the old place was weighing on me, especially towards the end.

It was a lovely flat, with a lot of potential, but our landlady did not care for it well, and it made living there a lot more stressful than necessary.

In contrast, this new flat is bright, well insulated, nicely decorated and refurbished, quiet, and most important of all, ours to do as we wish with.
We even have a small "garden" that I intend on spending lots of sunny days enjoying and plant a variety of small things in.

Overall, I am so happy.

I don't know how I came to be this lucky. It is overwhelming.

Thank you for bearing with me while I spent some time setting everything up.
I am now able to get back to work so I will have some new posts for you in the coming days, including a tour of my 2022 Daily Doodle Diary, the pages from my 2023 Dairy so far, Work in Progress images and your Deep-Dive video.

Speak soon and take care of yourselves,

All my love,

Myriam

Welcome in your new home! That window bench looks so cozy, a perfect recharching spot. I can imagine myself spending every spare minute in a corner like that, hahaha. ๐Ÿ’š
