Sketchbook pages + Last Daily Doodle Diary drawings

Hello lovely people,

I just uploaded a deep-dive video into my exploration of a new concept yesterday for $5+ peeps, so I wanted to share the sketches from that video with everyone here.

I also will post the last doodles from my 2022 Daily Doodle Diary at the end, as there aren’t enough to warrant a full post but I do want to make sure I share them all with you before I start a new diary.

So first, the sketches from the deep-dive video
(If you would like to hear me explain my thought process and break down the decisions I make for each sketch, I now upload those as a monthly video for tiers $5 and up!) :

I have many a sketch from the last few years of a person with a giant jaw for a face, but I never properly delved into exploring it as a full concept in its own right.

So here we are.

All the notes in the first image above pertain to the development of this idea, and while I am far from being done with this concept, I am still quite happy with what I have done so far.

I like the direction and I am at a stage where I am now excited to push it further.
It has definitely secured its place as a piece I want to paint, joining the “soon, please for the love of god may I get the time to explore all my pending ideas soon” pile.

This concept did not come out of nowhere, I did have some rough iterations peppered through my sketchbooks through the years, here are some of the more recent ones from this year’s Daily Doodle Diary:

(I found the last one above as I was writing this post and forgot to include it in the video, which is a pity as it is relevant to the decisions I made)

I look forward to seeing how this idea will evolve as I work on it further!

THE LAST OF MY DAILY DOODLES

Not for all time, just for 2022!
Because yes, I will absolutely try to do another one in 2023 (although I am already behind because I don’t even have a diary yet XD).

I am a little disappointed with myself for this last batch, because I intended to finish the year with a bang and complete all the days, but it was much much more difficult than I was expecting. I truly did not expect myself to be quite as tired as I was!
On top of it all, I had the Christmas Market mid-December, caught covid for the first time, then had to travel to France as soon as I was better, where the english side of my family was visiting for Christmas and I had to be the translator for a few days. I’m going to be honest, it really took it out of me.

Being with family is absolutely wonderful, but I am feeling the effects of a lot of socialisation, as well as the lingering effects of Covid (mild thankfully, but still), and all I want to do now is sleep, haha.

As a result, my daily doodles fell to the wayside and I am sorry to say that I don’t have many pages done from the last few weeks.

With all of that said, here are my last doodle diaries drawings of 2022!

(Obligatory kitty sketches once I arrived at my parents’ house <3)

This last page above was when I first started exploring the concept I shared with you in the beginning of this post.

And so here we are.
The last day of 2022!
I will try to do one last drawing today, which I‘ll share in the next batch, but for all intents and purposes, we are done with this Doodle Diary.

I know it sounds cliche, but my god did it come fast. I genuinely don’t know where the time went. Incredible.

I am equal parts apprehensive and excited for the coming year. It promises to be quite hard but I am feeling more and more confident in my work, so, at least in my art, I am looking forward to seeing where things go. And I look forward to sharing it all with you.

Thank you for reading, thank you for being here, and take good care of yourselves!

Happy New Year lovely, lovely people.
I am so very grateful for each and every one of you and I hope you know how your support has made my year.

All my love,
Myriam
