Daily Doodle Diary 2022 #15

Hello everyone!

Here's another batch of Daily Doodles!

A tell-tale sign that I am trying to get back into sketching more is when I get out my coloured pens and start doing pose studies...XD

I have been trying to use slightly challenging pose references from Pinterest for my doodles in this batch, to train my eye to perceive proportions better.

By using pens, I have to pay close attention to the relationship between my shapes and volumes in order to replicate the pose correctly. It is always challenging but also one of those exercises that really helps me get a better understanding or anatomy and perspective.

Sport photos are incredible when it comes to foreshortening and finding dynamic but difficult poses to study.

This picture of a kid jumping into a river was delightful, and ridiculously challenging!

Kitty break.

Kitty warm-up.

Drawing couples interacting is another level up when it comes to challenging poses but I absolutely LOVE sketching such compositions out.

Those 2 days above did not go great XD. Somehow, this hand pose gave me a lot of trouble, so I gave up on the Monday but tried again on the Tuesday.

I really enjoyed this study of the rope walker from a lower angle. The line provided a really useful guide.

This one came out a little more suggestive than its reference, haha. I promise I was drawing a singer dancing. XD

The last couple days I have attempted a concept sketch, but since I couldn't use a reference for this idea, it has been a tough one to parse out.

And that's it for this batch!

Do you have a favourite?

Mine are probably 17 and 18. Those pages flowed well on the day and I loved the references images.

By the way, would you be interested in my posting the references alongside my doodles?

Let me know!

Al my love,
M

I like 17 and 24 for the expression.

Thanks Thiago! The ref was very striking :)

Thank you! I love using line thickness for fluid forms, it's tricky and I'm not the most skilled at it but it is very fun to use.

I like how the outline of 14 changes thickness and saturation, thin along spine and more emphasized on head.

The cat in the 14th has so much movement!
