Daily Doodle Diary 2022 - #8

Hello lovely peeps,

Here's a little daily Doodle Diary batch for you!

I missed a few days lately but overall I have been doing quite good with keeping up with it.

Do you have a favourite from this selection?

I think the above page might be my favourite as far as how it looks as a spread? I like the colours and the bold lines next to each other.

The above spread is my favourite in terms of ideation. I felt good enough on both of those days that I explored some concepts rather than worked from reference.

The above day was an attempt at a study from ref, in which I tried not to turn the diary and worked on getting the image correct from observation alone. It....didn't go too well, hahaha!

This little idea appealed to me enough that I have started making it into a bigger sketch. I'll share that with you soon :)

Another idea I like and am beginning to sketch out in a bigger drawing...

A quick little sketch from ref.

And finally, yesterday's and today's.
I like the right one a lot, and was imagining two characters dancing together and turning into ribbons that interlace with each other while they move....It could make a nice animation if I had that kind of skill...

And that's it for this little batch!
Let me know what you think :)

Love, M

Thank you Laura!

I am definitely a sucker for ribbons, haha!

Haha, most unfortunately :)

This one is being made into a bigger sketch ;)

Oh good, that was my birthday, haha!

June 9 is my favorite. Love your ribbon based art.

I like the 26th and 27th -- who hasn't dated someone like that, amirite? :)

I love May 24!!

I really love the one from may 31.

Ah Elizabeth, I am so sorry to hear you are in chronic pain at the moment. I have been experiencing chronic pain myself for about 3-4 years now too (similar areas as you), and it is alarming how much pain just takes over everything and make it harder to do anything. I am so glad you have found a supportive community though, and I think you have definitely put your finger on something I was trying to represent with that drawing. I am continually amazed at how kindly and wonderfully communities can come together to make life more bearable and enjoyable for its members. With all the stories of hardship around these days, remembering that humans can also been absolutely incredible at supporting each other is so important. Thank you for sharing this with me!

The May 25th image just resonates with me so much. As a woman who has recently been dealing with near daily pain for the first time in my life, I've found a lot of help and support from other women in particular. The image of braiding for me acts as an image of mutual support, comfort and trust between women. Because my pain is mostly in my back/neck/head this image just hit all the right notes in a really emotional way. It's such a comforting image to me! I'm so glad I had the opportunity to see it, thank you for sharing!
