Inktober 2021 Day 4 - HEARTWOOD

Good morning (or whatever it is where you are today) lovely people,
Here's day 4 of Inktober, Heartwood!
I was still a little unsure about this concept up until the point where I started working on the branches. Once I added the wood texture, something fell into place for me and now I am really fond of this image.
It feels a little more whimsical and lighthearted than what I usually like to create, but sometimes that is needed.
You'll notice that this character has clothes, which is and probably always will be, a rarity for me, but I thought it created a lovely narrative contrast.
This one definitely lifted my spirits and I had a lot of fun working on it.
The next piece will be quite a bit darker, and I am enjoying the variety.
I hope you will enjoy this one too!
Today's schedule consists of a physio appointment and then inking inking inking...So I better get started. :D
