Hi lovely peeps,
Just finished my first Inktober drawing, and as usual, I seem to have gone for as much detail as I could because I have no idea how to pace myself. XD
Here's SOLACE.

You can definitely detect some of my comfort themes in this one, and it is reminiscent of some of my older Inktober pieces in more ways than one.
I do love me some gnarly bark texture in inks...
I tried to push my values a little further than my comfort zone, and was quite apprehensive about working on the background, but I am actually quite happy with how it all turned out!
I hope you'll like it too :)
Below are some of the stages the sketch went through as well as more preliminary doodles from when I was still trying to figure out the pose of the character.
The idea was initially going to feature a cross section of the earth, with the character half embedded in the ground, and collecting the flowers growing out of its buried body.
But as you can see, I ended up going in a different direction, as I couldn't quite find a way to make the cross-section idea flow properly.
That's it for this one!
Onto the next ;)
Speak soon! <3
