Hi peeps,
As Inktober is fast approaching, I have spent more time in my sketchbook roughly planning out pieces, so here are my pages from the last few days!
I also finished a small painting which will be the Patreon exclusive video timelapse as well as the August print. :)

The above page notes are part of my process while thinking up ideas for my 12 Inktober/Calendar pieces.
I have narrowed down 9 ideas so far, which I will start on this week.

To help me loosen up and be less sacred of messing around and messing up, I picked up a very old sketchbook of mine I never finished. The sketchbook contains a few creature doodles from years ago, but is mostly empty, and is quite messy and lived in, so it is not an intimidating space to experiment in.
Here are a few of the pages I have worked on the last few days.
On the left are the recent pages, and on the right are the old doodles.

I started off with some attempts at thumbnails for one of my Inktober ideas.

I find the juxtaposition of the newer (if messy) drawings and the older, somewhat goofy doodles to be quite comical. XD

I then moved on to some sketches of another Inktober idea (based on an older concept of mine I've been tinkering with on and off).

Figuring out how I want the branches to look has been the main challenge with this particular concept.

But I think I have finally settled on a rough final look (above left).

I've been enjoying doing some hand studies in pen lately also, and the page above gives me endless joy because the older doodles on the left are hilariously creepy to me. XD
I would give a lot to recall what on earth I was thinking when I drew that horrific creature, haha.
Anyway, this is it for sketchbook pages, more to come very soon!
I also managed to spend a little time painting, and worked on this fairly spontaneous little concept.

I used watercolours for this one, which was a blast from the past as I think the last time I used watercolours was...2019 maybe? I don't even remember.
It was very enjoyable indeed, although it did remind me why I now prefer to use acrylics, as those watercolour really do be drying liiiight! XD

This is it for this post, video will up right after this one goes live!
Sending you all love,
Speak soon for some Inktober fun,
Let me know if you are considering doing Inktober this year!
Love, M
