Hello lovely people,
As promised, here is a new batch of Daily Doodles! Finally T_T
I have not been keeping up with it very well lately, but at least I have enough pages to feel comfortable making a full post for you....
I have definitely fallen out of the habit, which is a pity but also isn't entirely surprising given how chaotic 2021 has been so far. I have the firm intention to make up for my neglect of it in the next few months, but intentions are one thing, motivation another. XD
We'll see...
In the meantime, here are the few pages I managed since the last time I shared a batch.

I started small and simple, in the hopes it would help me get back into the groove without too much of a shock.

I kept most drawings simple, so as not to overwhelm myself too quickly and I tried to focus mostly on keeping up with the habit more than anything else.
I did very much enjoy drawing the little portrait on the left above, something about the narrow value range and minimalist style appealed to me.

This one above was an exercise from reference. I was trying to capture the malleability of the character's face accurately.

The sketch on the left above was another exercise to experiment with expression and manipulation of material.

The little girl on the left above is probably one of my fav from this batch, just because the reference picture was so funny, and trying to capture it in the drawing was really enjoyable although quite challenging from someone like me, who has a limited amount of experience with expressions.

I found the image above while browsing holiday images on Pinterest dreaming of being by the beach, and the lady looked so wonderfully peaceful and relaxed, just laying in the sun on the sand that I had to draw her. Even now looking at the drawing I dream of being there too, haha.
I tried to use bold colours to capture the warmth and light of the original picture.

I thought the reference for the portrait above was beautiful, and a good way for me to practice drawing rounder faces.
Plus I thoroughly enjoy drawing portraits straight in pen, especially brush pen, as it helps me learn about facial proportions and likeness.

I would really like to attempt the 100 faces challenge at some point, and something I would want to practice while doing it is drawing loose and sharp, with blunt lines and angles, so the image above was a fun step in that direction.
And that is it for this batch!
I apologise for it being a little more anemic than my older batches, I do hope to pick up the habit again more consistently soon, but art comes in waves, and sometimes some things aren't the right things to do quite yet.
I hope you enjoyed this post!
Do you have a favourite from this sample?
