2 Small Paintings : Ripples & Lucent

Hello lovely people, 

As promised, here are the other 2 paintings from the 4 I completed this past week. 

Ripples (left) is another take on the body as a fluid object that I explored in "Under the Surface" in my previous post, and Lucent (right) was an exploration of stained glass and lighting. 

Sorry about the slight variations in colour between the photographs and the scans, perceived hues vary a lot depending on my lighting at the time of the photos. 

These two pieces were more peaceful and introspective than the previous two I shared with you, as if my mind was processing some difficult things with the first two concepts and then needed some time to explore some slightly less harrowing imagery for a while. 

In fact, I find Lucent to be probably one of the more positive pieces I have painted in a while.
I have a feeling that it might be in part related to the sunnier, brighter days we have been having lately. My partner likes to joke that I am solar powered, and honestly, I think there is some truth in that. It is like I open up and every cell in my body starts to relax when spring starts to appear...:) 

Anyway, these two were my latest pieces! 

I sadly don't have any in progress images of Lucent as I got so absorbed by the painting process that I completely forgot to take some! My apologies!

These little illustrations have managed to spark a renewed excitement for more ambitious pieces in me, but I still feels little too rusty to jump into bigger concepts for now, so my next project will be creating a bunch of spot illustrations on a huge sheet. 

I want to work on a big sheet of paper and create lots of small self-contained images, that I would then like to turn into stickers for all of you. I will update you as I go of course!

I will probably start sketching for my next big piece as I go also, and you will as usual be the first to see all of that as it develops too!
