Last Daily Doodles of 2020

Hi everyone,

First of all, thank you for all your kind words on my Youtube issues post yesterday. Your support really helped me with dealing with that horrible situation.

It is more of less resolved now, although the only good thing about it is that my channel hopefully won't get removed by a third strike, but it has still cost me a lot in the process. I hope to be able to talk more about it in the future, but for now, I'll settle for not having to be scared to death for my livelihood, ha.

Anyway, onto better things!

I was planning on having this post be my last 2020 upload on here, but the end of last year was beyond exhausting, so that didn't happen.
Better late than never though I suppose, so here are the very last drawings I did in my 2020 Daily Doodle Diary!

I had some random bursts of energy here and there and I managed a few doodles I really like, although I did not manage to do every last day in December, as I was initially hoping.

But that's ok. I finally managed to make peace with not fulfilling every little goal I set myself, and that has brought some relief from my own mind in the last few weeks, which I suppose is a success in itself.

My favourites from this batch are probably 17 and 22 (green vines head thing...person...). How about you?

The 3 monochrome drawings above were done from reference.

I extended some doodles into the last pages of the diary, when I occasionally felt like drawing beyond my one daily sketch.

I will be doing a full tour of this sketchbook on my Youtube channel next week! I look forward to looking back on all the doodles, it will be an interesting retrospective into my artistic evolution this year!

I haven't started a new Doodle Diary quite yet, as I have failed to find a good diary for it. I bought 1 that turned out to be god awful quality, and the second one I purchased isn't that much better, and is also a bit too big. I wish I could find the same one I used in 2020, but I think that one was a fluke. I can't even find it on the manufacturer's website.

I'll update you once I find one I like and start working in it more regularly. :)

In the meantime, I hope you enjoyed these posts the past year, and found seeing my messy daily drawings interesting!

I will obviously be starting this year's diary late, but taking a few weeks break was needed, now that I look back, and I am now looking forward to starting the exercise up again, in a  way I don't think I would have been had I kept going at the same rate.

I will have a post detailing my plans for this year more in-depth, as well as some reward updates and general information, so I'll speak to you soon.

In the meantime, I hope you are all well and that the new year in being kind to you!

Sending lots of love to all of you,

M

This little sketchbook was such a trooper!

Thank you for your advice! Shifting my mindset from 'I need a new idea' to 'anything is fine!' is something I've been working on. Feeling a lot of pressure to do something that should be relaxing isn't the most productive thing. And don't worry about missing out on the last PDFs, I was just wondering. It's totally understandable that you didn't manage to make any proper PDFs because you felt too burnt out. I don't consider it as failing at all. Taking care of yourself is also super important and if that means you need to put something aside, then that is totally fine!

That's exactly why I did it too, and I'm really happy to hear this inspired you ^^

Thanks Teal! I love that perspective, thanks! I want to make a bigger sketch of that one, so I'm energised by the fact that you like it :)

Thank you so much Jeske! These Doodles were so fun to share with you all! I look forward to sharing this year's with you also. I'm so glad you enjoyed them, it's very encouraging. When it comes to having ideas every day, I specifically started my 2020 diary to get out of the habit of expecting myself to come up with fresh ideas all the time. I was putting so much pressure on myself every time I sat down to come up with new concepts that it ended up having the opposite effect on me and I would freeze up and drive myself to mental exhaustion. If I may give a tiny bit of advice, it would be to genuinely just try to get pen to paper each day, with absolutely no expectations. No sketch has more value than any other, no matter whether they are a new idea or just messy lines that look like nothing. The only victory is managing to doodle. :) Congratulations on managing each day so far, that is incredible!!! Regarding the PDFs, I am so sorry for missing the last couple of months. I was so burnt out that I didn't manage to gather enough pages to make a proper PDF. But the January one will be up tomorrow!! Thank you for supporting me despite my failings at the end of 2020. <3

Oh how fantastic, I love to hear it! Best of luck Bellare, and I hope you are well :)

Thank you Thiago!! "Hang-in-there girl" made me chuckle, hehe

Oh, I didn't know Moleskine had daily diaries!!! I'll keep that in mind for next year! Thanks :) My one reservation would be that their are a little pricey. I like using cheap diaries because it keeps the pressure off. But Moleskines are beautiful. I have settled things with the company, which should keep me safe from a third strike, but it's all a little complicated so I'm walking on eggshells a little. It's quite stressful, haha. Thank you for the info and kind words Meg, I hope you are well :)

They are really lovely. It inspires me to see such small drawings. I do not feel pressured to always have huge drawings.

I really like the face-door one toward the end and especially your choice to not let us really see inside, it pulls my imagination in to wonder what's going on in a really satisfying way

I am so happy to hear the yt problem is sort of resolved! I've been thinking about it a lot as well. In the past year I have loved every single DDD update! I always looked forward to them and I sometimes go back to the posts to see what you've done in the beginnen of the year. My faves from this batch are probably 22 and 31. Love how colourful these pages are! Your daily doodle diary has inspired me a lot as you may know, hahah. So far I'm having a lot of fun with mine for this year, though I find it VERY hard to come up with an idea every day. I am also too hard on myself by expecting to come up with original ideas and stuff that are far out of my comfort zone. I think that might be my main 'problem'. So far I've managed to draw every day, though. Not yet today, but it's not noon yet and I got some uninteresting online classes this afternoon. Looking forward to the overview of your 2020 diary and the post with plans/reward updates for this year! A few days ago I upgraded to the Sticker bundle tier. A small question: will the update say anything about the sketchbook pdfs? I've missed them lately! Nevertheless I am still happy to support you :D

29 is my favorite. I hope you find a good calender to do this again. I got inspired by you and am also trying to do daily doodles this year.

Glad it is going well! And congrats on a very productive 2020. My favorites from this batch are the 17th and the Hang-in-there girl.
